If the insured chooses a designated medical institution, they can choose according to the principle of "you must choose a community hospital, a comprehensive 3A hospital and one or two small hospitals nearby". Designated medical institutions refer to medical institutions that have been audited by the administrative department of labor and social security in the overall planning area, signed an agreement with the medical insurance agency, and are determined by the social insurance agency to provide medical services for the insured of the basic medical insurance for urban workers and bear corresponding responsibilities.

Designated medical institutions shall strictly implement the medical insurance agreement, make reasonable diagnosis and treatment, charge reasonable fees, strictly implement the catalogue of medical insurance drugs, medical consumables and medical services, give priority to the use of medical insurance drugs, control the proportion of patients at their own expense, and improve the efficiency of the use of medical security funds. Designated medical institutions shall not provide medical insurance settlement for non-designated medical institutions.

The unpaid expenses of the agency, the quality deposit deducted by the designated medical institutions according to the medical insurance agreement and the liquidated damages paid by the designated medical institutions shall not be treated as arrears of medical insurance.
