In the depths of the grassland more than 80 kilometers north of Wulanchabu City, Inner Mongolia, there is a spectacular volcanic group, which is Wulanhada Volcano Group.

Located in Wulanhadasumu, Chahar right-wing back banner, Wulanchabu City, it is about 400 kilometers away from Beijing and about 5 hours from Beijing.

According to geologists, Wulanhada Volcano Group is an extinct volcano formed by volcanic eruption more than 654.38 billion years ago, and the last eruption was about 60 million years ago. This sounds far away, but in fact, in the concept of geology, this is a young volcano.

There are six volcanoes with different shapes, and the distance from the starting point to the end point is about 10 km. They are scattered on the vast grassland, forming a unique volcanic grassland landscape, known as the Natural Volcano Museum.

In the summer of 20 18, I traveled to Xilin Gol grassland. When I returned to Beijing from Erenhot, I made a special trip to Ulan Hada volcano, and I got a taste of it for the first time.

In the summer of 20 19, several friends made an appointment to travel to Wulanchabu, first to Huanghuagou grassland, and then directly to Wulanhada from there to enjoy the wonderful landscape of the volcano again.

The transportation of Wulanchabu volcano group is very convenient. From Wulanchabu, you can drive north along Erguang Expressway for about one hour, get off at Wulanchabu exit, and then drive along national highway and township road for more than ten minutes. Wulanhada Volcano Geopark is being built locally, and asphalt roads have been built between volcanoes, with good road conditions.

The volcano where the headquarters of the Geopark is located is not high and the slope is not steep, so it can be easily climbed. Standing on the top of the volcano, overlooking several volcanoes in the distance, enjoying the vast grassland scenery has a unique flavor.

However, the slopes of several other volcanoes are covered with tiny volcanic rocks, which are very round and slippery, so it is not easy to climb up. Not too close, it is a unique experience to observe the volcanic landscape, analyze the volcanic structure, understand the geographical knowledge and feel the vastness of the world.
