Weizhou Island is located in the middle of Beibu Gulf, bordering Guangxi Beihai City to the north, Leizhou Peninsula to the east, Xieyang Island to the southeast, and Xieyang Island to the south. Hainan Island faces each other across the sea and faces Vietnam to the west. Weizhou Island was designated as a provincial tourist resort in 1994 and is also a Chinese National Geopark. Famous buildings on the island include Sanpo Temple, Notre Dame Temple and Catholic Church. It is under the jurisdiction of Haicheng District, Beihai City and has Weizhou Town.
