Historically, Qujing has been one of the political, economic and cultural centers of Yunnan. The per capita water resources are higher than the national level, and the development potential of hydropower resources is huge.
Qujing has many cultural and historical sites, beautiful natural scenery and simple folk customs. In China's calligraphy, there are tablets of Yan Long and Bao Zi, which are praised by Kang Youwei as "the first stone in ancient books". There are huge and rare ancient tombs in Zhu Jie from the Warring States to the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, such as Eight Pagodas, Qin Xiu's "Five Emperors" and "Seven Captures of Meng Huo" ... In the long history, how many epic historical feats have been recorded here. Huashan Lake, Xiaoxiang Lake, surrounded by green trees, clear water like jade; There is an underground art hall called "the second wonder of Yunnan"-Tiansheng Cave; There are beautiful Luoping scenic spots-Jiulong Waterfall, beautiful Doyle River and Lubuge Canyon, which is known as the "Little Three Gorges". Lvliang colorful sand forest, with magnificent, quiet and unique geographical wonders; There are Cuifeng Mountain, Liaokuo Mountain and Langmu Mountain, which are called "the highest in Xiuba" by Xu Xiake.
Qujing has convenient transportation and fast communication. By the end of 2000, the city's highway14912km, Guizhou-Kunming, Nanning-Kunming and other trunk and branch railways crossed the border. All townships (towns) and 99.8% administrative villages (offices) have access to highways, forming a city with Qujing as the center and railways, Kunming, Qulu and Qusheng expressway as the center. Qujing's post and telecommunications industry has developed rapidly. The city 124 townships (towns, offices) and most village committees have opened 7-digit program-controlled telephones and GSM mobile phones. An omni-directional microwave co-frequency relay network and urban broadband high-speed ring network have been built, and all counties have opened high-speed broadband Internet.
The city's radio and television coverage rate reached 92%, and Qujing TV Station launched three sets of programs and more than ten columns. In 2005, Qujing's economic aggregate surpassed Yuxi, ranking second in the province.
