After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, Langqi Town accelerated the island construction. During the Seventh Five-Year Plan period, the total investment in island construction was15.3 million yuan, and drinking water construction projects for people and livestock were completed one after another. Since 199 1, we have continuously invested 200 million yuan in infrastructure and municipal construction on the island. By the end of 1997, a 10000 volt substation, a waterworks with daily water supply of10000 tons and six tap water supply stations will be built. Langqi Island has convenient land and water transportation. Langqi Port is one of the three major ports in the lower reaches of Minjiang River (Fuzhou Port, Mawei Port and Langqi Port) and the gateway port of Minjiang River. Jiangkuo Port is a good haven and foreign trade port with deep water and no freezing and silting. A wharf with a berth of 20,000 tons can be built on the northwest coast of the island, which is beneficial to foreign trade and trade with Taiwan. There is a 300-ton ferry ro-ro wharf on the newly-built road in the west of the island, which is connected with 104 national highway. In the south of the island, there is the Langqi Bridge in Fuzhou, which connects with expressway, Changle International Airport, Panasonic Deepwater Wharf and Fuxia expressway. Green passages such as cement road around the island, riverside cement road and holiday road will be built. Bus No.40 from Langqi to Fuzhou, No.36 from Ferry Terminal (Dong Qi), No.36 from Langqi to Fuzhou, vehicles from Changle to Jinfeng in Lianjiang County, and vehicles from Mindong to Minnan have been opened, and land transportation extends in all directions. There are air traffic control stations in the lower reaches of Minjiang River on the island, boats and speedboats from Fuzhou to Langqi, and boats from Fuzhou to Lianjiang Gulu Island are all docked at Langqi Passenger Terminal. There are five transport units in the town, including more than 200 large and small cargo ships, more than 0/00 agricultural transport vehicles, more than 0/00 trucks, more than 0/00 CMB, cars and taxis.

Langqi Island is a coastal eco-tourism area. Langqi Island was inhabited as early as the Southern and Northern Dynasties. It is an ancient island with a long history. It was built in the Tang Dynasty and lived in seclusion in the Song Dynasty. The island is full of people and places of interest. More than 40 people have passed the imperial examination in history. There were three ministers in the Song and Ming Dynasties: Lin Cun, minister of the Song Dynasty, Wang Zudao, minister of the Ministry of War, and Chen Wensu, minister of the Ming Dynasty. In addition, the district-level cultural relics protection units announced by Guizhou Zuobuzheng and Housing Minister Jiang Wenpei, Industry Ministers Dong and Dong Yanghe, vice admiral Ren Guangyu of the Republic of China, Beijing High Court President Weng Jingtang, Fujian Revolutionary Committee Chairman and Fujian Provincial Political Consultative Conference Vice Chairman Liu Pinglang are: Jinbao, Yaqian Chen Ancestral Hall and Dong Tomb (attached cultural relic Dong Shi Ancestral Hall). The temples that have been opened are: Baiyun Temple, Tian 'an Temple, Nanshan Temple, Tianzhu Temple, Xia Qi Tianhou Temple and Haitian Tianhou Temple. Christian churches include Li Qiantang, Yu Haitang, Jinsha, Fengwo and Yunlong.

After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, foreign businessmen from more than 20 countries and regions, including Italian Maori Consortium, Japanese East Dishi Consortium and Taiwan Province Haneda Consortium, visited Langqi successively. 1994 July19, Fujian Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Government decided to build a modern vegetable and non-staple food base and an idyllic tourism and leisure resort in Langqi; Subsequently, Langqi became an experimental area for agricultural cooperation between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait (Fuzhou).

Our province has made it clear that Fuzhou Development Zone will be extended to Langqi Island 18 square kilometers, and the development layout of Langqi will be upgraded to the strategic layout of national development zones.

Fuzhou is only 20 minutes away from Langqi.

According to the latest news of Langqi Economic Zone, Langqi Minjiang Bridge is located about 800 meters upstream of Dongqi Wharf in Tingjiang. At present, the feasibility study report of the project has passed the review organized by the provincial development and reform commission and entered the preliminary design stage.

The bridge and its connection project will adopt a beautiful cable-stayed bridge with two towers (the same height). The main bridge is 1 160m long and 28.2m wide, with four lanes in both directions (6 lanes are reserved in the future). The main span of this bridge is 680 meters wide. It is designed according to the standard that the first-class highway is also a first-class urban trunk highway, with a service life of 100 years and a total investment of nearly 2 billion yuan. When completed, it will be the longest main span bridge in Fujian Province and one of the top ten cable-stayed bridges in the world.

This year marks the 10 anniversary of the establishment of Langqi Economic Zone, and the construction of Langqi Minjiang River Bridge will be started in the second half of this year as a gift to commemorate the 10 anniversary of the establishment of the Economic Zone. It is reported that the bridge will be completed and opened to traffic by the end of 20 13. The bridge plans to tunnel from the highway to connect Langqi Minjiang River Bridge and Langqi Expressway. Once this passage is opened, it only takes about 20 minutes from Fuzhou to Langqi!

There is also a roundabout road in Houlangqi Island.

According to the introduction of Langqi Economic Zone Management Committee, the planned dike around Langqi Island is 44.6 kilometers long, the main line is 25.8 kilometers long and 80 meters wide. The combination of embankment and road is designed according to the 50-year return period moisture-proof and flood control standard, with a total investment of about 3.5 billion yuan. After completion, it will not only make the traffic and external passages around Langqi Island form a closed loop, but also comprehensively improve the ability of moisture prevention and flood control, making it a beautiful landscape belt around Langqi Island, which will greatly enhance Langqi. At present, the project has completed the preliminary examination and approval, and the construction of 1 road will start within this year.

Looking at the scenery along the island road in the future, we will see an ecological island city. According to the requirements of Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government, Langqi master plan was invited for international bidding. At present, preparations for international bidding have been started, and the overall planning will be completed before the end of the year.

"Through high starting point, high level, high standard and high level planning and design, we will make full use of the characteristic resources of Langqi, which are connected by mountains and rivers and green ecology, and strive to build Langqi into the pearl of Pudong and Minjiang Estuary in Fuzhou and become the most comfortable ecological island city in Fuzhou and even Fujian Province." The relevant person in charge of the Management Committee of Langqi Economic Zone said.

In addition, Langqi will start the planning of Yanxinghe River and its surrounding areas during the year, dredge and renovate the 6-kilometer-long river, and build Yanxinghe River with a width of 100- 120 meters, and strive to build Langqi, the "mother river", into an ecological leisure landscape belt with unique island characteristics integrating flood control and drainage, tourism and leisure, and ecological landscape, and become a pearl "jade belt" at the mouth of the Minjiang River.

In the next 2-3 years, Langqi Island water supply project will be rolled out, financial resources will be concentrated to implement the follow-up construction of cross-river water diversion project, the construction of tap water pipe networks in various districts and villages will be completed, and stable water sources will be established to fundamentally solve the water problem of Langqi's life, production and project development.

Langqi's future goal is to build a beautiful and livable Fuzhou new city in Minjiang Estuary. Last month, the investment team of Dalian Wanda Group signed the Investment Framework Agreement of Fuzhou Langqi Island International Tourism Resort Project with Mawei District of Fuzhou.

Located at the mouth of Minjiang River, Langqi Island is surrounded by the river on three sides and the sea in the east, with a total area of 92 square kilometers, making it the fifth largest island in Fujian Province. According to the agreement, the investment is a large-scale comprehensive tourism project integrating shopping, catering, tourism, entertainment, culture and leisure. It is planned to build a new star-rated hotel, a street with amorous feelings, a yacht club, a large playground and other supporting projects, and build them according to the specifications of an international tourist island. The project is scheduled to start construction in the first half of next year.

Some experts pointed out that the involvement of big consortia has increased the vitality of Langqi Island, and Langqi Island will be an ecological island city with modern elements in the future.
