Sun Xinsheng: Travel Notes of Central Vietnam (16) Cam Ranh Bay, Nha Trang

At eight o'clock, I knocked on the door of Shu Ming and Xiao Qin. Sleepy-eyed, they went downstairs with me to have breakfast, then crossed the road and headed for the bay.

The hotel is not big, the room is small, but it is also neat. The proprietress is teasing the children in the lobby on the ground floor. Seeing us go downstairs, she quickly came to say hello: "Take a rest, why do you get up so early? Too tired. " Shu Ming understood what she meant and made fun of her. Private hotels in Vietnam are basically operated by the owners themselves. Most of them are beautiful, white and clean, well-proportioned, easy-going and meticulous, and they are skillful and clear in accounting.

When I associate with them, I feel that they are like people from Chaoshan and Yulin, both feminine and gentle in the south. The language seems to be similar to Cantonese in tone, but completely different from Indonesia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar and other countries in Southeast Asia, as if it had never been abroad. As time goes by and travel increases, this feeling becomes stronger and stronger.

The Golden Beach in Nha Trang draws a magnificent arc as long as 10 kilometers, which is the center of the city and the crowning touch. The roads outside the beach area are wide and become the main roads of the city. The inner side is isolated by civic square and green belt, which becomes a good place for tourists to rest, while many high-rise buildings have been built on the outer side, which meets the needs of Nha Trang as a tourist center in central Vietnam.

Vietnam's long coastline is graceful, with the best scenery in the south-central, from Guiren to Fanqie, that is, the area finally occupied by the Kingdom of Champa after 12 century. There are long beaches, towering cliffs and many hidden bays along the coast, as well as volcanic rocks deep into the sea, which are composed of hundreds of criss-crossing rock pillars. Together with several groups of Chamberta groups built along the coast after the 7th century, and tropical desert islands dotted in the blue ocean, all these can meet various tourism needs.

Nha Trang and its surrounding cities, bays and pristine beaches, such as Minai, Cam Ranh Bay, Gandadia Scenic Area, Kunshan Island, Meixi Beach, Dule Beach, Luo Yong Bay and Ningwan, are becoming the most exciting tourist destination groups. Dozens of international routes have been opened to Nha Trang, and many flights fly to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong every day.

Standing on the top floor of the hotel overlooking Nha Trang Bay, the sea is incredibly blue, with mountains on both sides. The peninsula on the south side leads directly to the sea and is connected with Pearl Island, a big island with an area of several square kilometers. Dozens of islands and reefs in the nearby bay are looming in the waves. The mountains on the north side are strewn at random, low near and high far, and a deep bay is formed between the prominent corner and Nha Trang near the mountain, which is an ideal boating place.

From the seaside square down to the center of the beach, the waves rolled and rumbled, and the hill-like tide hit the tourists, which was extremely shocking. This is a surfer's paradise. More than a dozen boys are walking through the whirlpool of waves on their surfboards. Motorboats running at high speed in the distance are breaking the waves and fighting for hegemony on the waves. A group of childlike teenagers passed by us, all wearing diving goggles and holding flippers and other equipment, ready to dive into the bottom of the sea.

Xiao Qin said that Nha Trang Bay is a diving resort with more than 20 diving stations and scenic spots. There are many corals among the rocks, and there are many kinds of tropical creatures. And a lot of people either surf and have fun in the water, or hang out, chat and relax on the beach. Three communities are irregularly formed on the long beach. Every community has built a sun protection shed made of thatch and canvas, but few people put it in. On the contrary, many old people with bare arms are lounging on scattered loungers. They are enjoying the tropical sunshine in early spring, just like going to heaven.

Watch and think, and you will be surprised by the breadth and depth of the bay and the length and depth of the beach. It is extremely difficult to read the scenery in front of you, and it is impossible to have a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery. I estimate that this bay is about 10 km wide. Secondly, I'm surprised how so many westerners gather here. It feels like I'm in Europe, and my eyes are full of European and American guests.

Xiao Qin said that tropical weather and beautiful environment are the two main reasons to attract Europeans in cold areas. I said, it's not true. I think of the big backpackers' party binge on the 36th Square Street in Hanoi, the rock climbers and chasers who rent bicycles and motorcycles in Haiphong Kippu Island, and the unrestrained storm fighters and lazy faces I just saw. Aren't they enjoying nature, emptiness and wildness? What's more, there are many undeveloped or renovated places here. Free and natural sculpture may be a big selling point.

In recent days, the whole country has been discussing the "deficit" of China's tourist population. Can we get some useful enlightenment from it? China is rich in geographical and ecological species, rich in historical and cultural heritage, and rich in natural beauty. It is famous for its vast territory and numerous nationalities, and it can never be satisfied with traveling at a lower level.

Leave town in the afternoon. In sharp contrast to the vibrant tourist area, the old town of Nha Trang is lifeless and many shops are closed. I was confused. It happened that the taxi driver arranged for us by the proprietress knew a little Chinese and said, "Nha Trang is a famous city of parties, unlike Hanoi and Saigon, where curfew is imposed at midnight. The night market here stays up all night and the atmosphere is very warm, just like a carnival. " The driver's words aroused my interest. After talking with him, I know his surname is Zhang, who is in his fifties. His ancestors came from Longmen (Qinzhou) in Guangdong for more than ten generations and have been naturalized in Vietnam. Because my grandmother is from Beijing, they have been from Beijing for nearly two generations. I said, are there many such situations in your family? He replied with a smile, I had more when I was a child, but now I have less. When I was a child, I probably meant a teenager, that is, thirty or forty years ago. I am speechless.

Go south after leaving the city, cross the estuary, and gallop along the newly built coastal highway without taking the 1 highway. Between mountains and seas, the terrain is undulating, as if entering the development zone. There are construction sites, roads and houses everywhere, and there is a busy scene. This shows that Nha Trang, a city mainly engaged in tourism and fishing, is entering a new stage of development.

The destination of our car rental trip is Cam Ranh Bay, which has already been agreed with the proprietress. But only half an hour to the south, the driver surnamed Zhang said that there was something at home and called another car to hand us over to others. The new driver drove us directly to a sandy land full of ephedra trees, pointing to the sea and saying, this is Cam Ranh Bay. Shu Ming is very clever. He took out his mobile phone and pointed to our standing point on the GPS map. He sneered, "Is this Cam Ranh Bay?" We have "tried" Cam Ranh Bay, a world-class military port, many times on the map. This is a rare natural harbor with wide water surface and deep water. The two peninsulas are arched with open arms, and Zhudao straddles the entrance.

In the 1960s, Americans developed it into the largest military port in Southeast Asia, and the Soviet Union leased it. After the disintegration, it reluctantly left, and now it is the main naval base in Vietnam, and announced its opening to the United States and Russia. In recent years, American and Japanese warships frequently appear in the South China Sea, haunting Cam Ranh Bay.

I'll believe that when I see it. This trip to Vietnam to see Cam Ranh Bay has also become a small wish for our free trip. Unexpectedly, I was teased by this driver. I am really angry. The driver quickly explained, "Cam Ranh Bay is closed to China people, so I dare not take you." When she left Nha Trang, the proprietress said that Jinlan City (the administrative division of Jinlan Bay) was open to everyone, but she left one hand to China people.

In the stalemate, the driver surnamed Zhang, who had already returned to the city, drove back again. As soon as he got off the bus, he said you left your bag in the car. I looked at this familiar black backpack and thought, isn't this ours? This honest Vietnamese untied the knot in my heart.

The bag is full of notebooks, bank cards and other things, and the consequences are unimaginable if it is lost. The driver in front described this place as another place, not because of his personality, but because of other reasons, and he was really helpless. I took Xiao Zhang's hand and thanked him again and again, and rewarded him with some money, saying that I would give him double the round trip fare, but this descendant of "Ming Ren Xiang" refused to accept it. After that, another driver pulled us to Meiga Village and looked at Jinlan Bay from a distance on a hillside about one kilometer away from downtown Jinlan Bay. Although we only took a look, it was a visit.
