Gaochang Ancient City is located near the location of Huoyanshan Township, about 46 kilometers southeast of Turpan City. Gaochang City experienced the changes of Gaochang County, Gaochang Kingdom, Xizhou, Uighur Gaochang and Huozhou for more than 1300 years, and was destroyed by war in 14 century.

2. Jiaohe Ancient Town

Jiaohe Ancient Town is located in Yaer Township, about 13 km west of Turpan City. In the Western Han Dynasty, it was the capital of Guo Qian, a car market. Jiaohe County belonged to the Western Zhou Dynasty in the Tang Dynasty. Anxi Khufu, the highest military and political institution stationed in the Western Regions in the Tang Dynasty, was once located here.

3. Lake Aiding

Aiding Lake is the "basin bottom" of Turpan Basin, located about 40 kilometers south of Turpan City. The lake basin is about 40 kilometers long from east to west and 8 kilometers wide from north to south, with an area of about 152 square kilometers. The lake is lower than the sea level of the Yellow Sea154.43m, second only to the Dead Sea of Jordan (-392m), and is called the second land lowland in the world.
