Is' Zhangjiabian' in Zhongshan a town?

Zhangjiabian in Zhongshan City is not a town, but a community neighborhood committee.

Zhangjiabian Community Neighborhood Committee was established in March 2002, located in the middle section of Torch Development Zone, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province. It is the center of economic and commercial activities and cultural propaganda, with a total area of 10 square kilometer, permanent population of180,000 and floating population of 60,000.

Including seven open residential quarters such as Zhangyi, Zhang Er, Zhangsan, Zhangsi, Zhangwu (Qingjiu), Jiangweitou and Yaotiao, and 43 closed residential quarters such as Shenghuayuan, Yijing New City, Mingzhuyuan, Yijingyuan and Earl Hill.

Zhangjiabian dialect is widely used by local residents (Zhangwu Village is Shatian dialect of Zhongshan Cantonese).

According to historical records, during the reign of Xianchun in the Southern Song Dynasty, Zhang Fenggang's family fled from Nanxiong Zhuji Lane to Zhangxi, the capital of Xiangshan County, and then moved here as the ancestor of Kaicun, and Zhang moved away from Zhangjiabian.

The area around Zhangjiabian was called Dongxiang in ancient times. Before the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the capital of Yongle Township. In the early years of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty, Xiangshan County was changed to Du Fang Town, and Zhangjiabian Village was subordinate to Dongzhen Town. In the second year of Xuantong in Qing Dynasty, Dongzhen in Xiangshan County was changed to fourth area, and Zhangjiabian Village belonged to fourth area.

During the Republic of China, it was called Zhangjiabian Township, 1952 was renamed Zhangjiabian Village, 1956 established Zhangjiabian Commune, 1963 was renamed Zhangjiabian Township, 1966 was renamed Shengli Brigade, 1983 abolished the commune and established Zhangjiabian Village.

1987, Zhangjiabian Township was renamed Zhangjiabian Village Committee; 1990, Zhangjiabian Border Region was divided into Zhongshan Port Area and Zhongshan Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone; 1993, Zhangjiabian Border Region, Zhongshan Port Area and Zhongshan Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone were merged and named Zhongshan Port Area; 1995, Zhongshan Port Area was renamed as Zhongshan Torch High-tech Industrial Development Zone (national level).

In 2002, with the adjustment of administrative divisions, Yaotiao Village, Jiangweitou Village and Zhangjiabian Village (including Qingjiu Village) merged into Zhangjiabian Community Neighborhood Committee.
