Fuzhou Yongquan Temple is located on the mountainside of Gushan Mountain at an altitude of 455 meters. It is said that it got its name from the Luohan Spring that gushes out of the ground in front of the temple. Yongqu Temple was built in the Tang Dynasty and has lasted for thousands of years, ranking first among the temples in Fujian.

Historically, Yongquan Temple was destroyed by fire twice in the sixth year of Yongle (1408) and the twenty-first year of Jiajing (1542) in the Ming Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the seventh year of Chongzhen (1634) in the Ming Dynasty. After several constructions, it was rebuilt in 1983. Today, Yongquan Temple basically maintains the architectural style and layout of the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The entire Buddhist temple has a total of 25 large and small temples, with the Tianwang Hall, the Mahavira Hall and the Bodhidharma Hall as the main bodies. They rise layer by layer along the mountain to form a complete ancient building complex.
