History of Aohan Hot Spring Resort in Chifeng

According to historical records: "Hot water Tangshan ... has rugged peaks, patchwork rocks, and spring water gushing from the south slope of the mountain, boiling at four o'clock ..." (Brief introduction of Tazigou in Liaohai series). As early as 38 years before Qianlong (1773), local farmers and herdsmen had used hot springs. At that time, a big pit was dug at the hot spring exit, and people took a bath in the pit, which was called "sitting soup". Because it has the effect of eliminating diseases, it is known as "Shentang". Later, Prince Bei Zifu presided over the renovation of the open-air bath pit in the hot spring, dug a well at the outlet of the hot spring, built it into an octagon with stone strips, and covered the outlet of the well with 15 hole slate. Since then, people have taken a bath underground. In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (A.D. 1933), a Taoist named "Wang Dakan" made alms to raise money and built three baths by the well, which were divided into male baths and female baths, and collapsed before the founding of the People's Republic of China.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, hot springs were really developed and utilized. The People's Government of Aohan Banner 1958 established Fu Rongjun Sanatorium here, and later renamed it Aohan Banner Hot Spring Sanatorium, 1995 renamed it Aohan Banner Hot Water Soup Sanatorium, and 1998 named it Aohan Hot Spring Resort.
