What are the characteristics of Xiangshan?

Xiangshan, formerly known as Yishan, Lishan and Shenshui Mountain, is located at the confluence of taohuajiang and Lijiang River in Guilin. Because the Shuiyue Cave at the end of Shandong looks like an elephant trunk, the whole mountain looks like an elephant stopping by the Lijiang River to drink water, so it is called Elephant Trunk Mountain, or Xiangshan for short.

Xiangshan is fascinating with its vivid image. It is regarded as the representative of Guilin landscape, the first of Guilin landscape and the symbol of Guilin city. The central pattern of Guilin emblem is Xiangshan.

From the top of Xiangshan Mountain, go down the mountain along the southeast mountain road until halfway up the mountain. There is an oval hole beside the road, which is an elephant eye stone. There is a stone carving protected by a railing at the mouth of the cave, which belongs to Mo Bao, a famous poet in the Song Dynasty.

On the cliff to the east of the elephant trunk, there is the word "release pond", which was written by Huang, the political envoy of Guangxi in the Qing Dynasty. He is good at writing large-scale catalogues, and his "Notes on Nantianyi" inscribed by Du Xiufeng is the largest catalogue book among Guilin stone carvings.

On the East Cliff of Xiangshan Mountain, Ni's Ode to the Wealth of the Qing Emperor is the largest cliff stone carving in Guilin.
