When was Yuefu established?

The Yuefu was a music administrative agency in ancient times. It was an official office established by the imperial court to manage music since the Qin Dynasty. The name of the Qin Dynasty was adopted in the Han Dynasty.

Later Yuefu became a poetry genre. In 1976, a button bell was unearthed in the Mausoleum of the First Emperor of Qin with a gold inscription: "Yuefu". In 2000, a seal "Yuefu Seal" was unearthed at the Qin Site in Xi'an. A piece of clay further confirms this historical fact, and it did not start during the period of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty.

The Book of Songs and Songs of Chu are basically lyric poems, and narratives are sometimes interspersed with the lyrical process, but narrative is subordinate to lyricism. The emergence of Yuefu narrative poetry in the Han Dynasty marked the maturity of ancient Chinese narrative poetry. The Yuefu poems of the Han Dynasty were all inspired by sorrow, joy, and events. When choosing narrative objects, the creative subjects were good at discovering poetic shots and taking them into the picture in a timely manner.
