Lawrence block (1938-), born in Buffalo, New York, is an American mystery writer. /kloc-at the age of 0/9, he published his first novel, You Can't Miss It. After that, he insisted on writing for nearly 50 years. Up to now, more than 30 novels have been published, and he is a prolific writer. 1959 graduated from Antioch College, Ohio, and now lives in new york with two daughters.

Matthew Scudder series: featuring Matthew Scudder, an alcoholic and unlicensed private investigator.

Thief series: Baini Rodenbauer, a middle-aged thief and second-hand bookstore owner, is the protagonist.

EventTanner series: featuring a tanner who was shelled in the Korean War, he has been unable to sleep ever since.
