Introduction to the Westminster Dog Show in the United States

The history of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in the United States has been more than 130 years. Westminster originated from the Westminster Hotel located in Manhattan, New York. It was popular among upper-class gentlemen in the United States in the 1650s. Hunting was a popular sport among them, and people began to discuss here whose hounds were better, thus forming the prototype of the dog show. The club they established at the Westminster Hotel was called the Westminster Breeding Society.
