History of Shangri-La Hotel Hangzhou
Shangri-La Hotel is the first Shangri-La hotel in Chinese mainland. Its east building was originally Xiling Hotel, which was built in 1962 and is a seven-story western-style building. After the completion of Xiling Hotel, together with the neighboring Hangzhou Hotel, it undertook a large number of state guests reception tasks. Premier Zhou Enlai basically lives here when he comes to Hangzhou, and has a separate office space. From 65438 to 0985, Xiling Hotel and Hangzhou Hotel next door merged into one to become Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou.
The East Building of Shangri-La Hotel in Hangzhou overlooks the panoramic view of the West Lake and inevitably enters the sight of tourists near the West Lake, which has been criticized for many years. When applying for the World Heritage of West Lake, Hangzhou Municipal Government promised that Shangri-La Hotel would be demolished or downgraded at the end of external lease.
