Why is Kobe called a rapist?

Mainly because of the Eagle County incident.

In 2003, Kobe checked into a hotel in Eagle County, Colorado. As a result, the receptionist of the hotel reported to the police the next day (1) that Kobe had sexually assaulted her. On July 2, the police obtained evidence from Kobe Bryant, and on July 4, the police signed an arrest warrant for Kobe Bryant. The Eagle County Police Chief's Office in Colorado issued a statement saying that Kobe was suspected of sexually assaulting a woman in a local hotel. Kobe was detained by the local police, but was released after paying $47 17 105 bail.

Later, the woman canceled the lawsuit herself and Kobe was acquitted.

According to Kobe's later statement, the two did have bangs, but it was definitely not rape. I guess my sister wants to be red too much.
