What is your favorite thing to do during the Chinese New Year?

The most important thing during the Chinese New Year is to put down everything, spend all your time with your family, and welcome the new year. Here are a few of my favorite things:

One is cleaning the house starting from New Year’s Day. From early in the morning, the family has been in preparation mode, wearing masks to clean the roof, wash clothes and quilts, clean the windows, clean up the garbage and sweep the floor. The family often has to be busy all day long. The hot atmosphere and the division of labor and cooperation make me feel tired - my mood seems to be disrupted again and again throughout the year. In addition to welcoming the old and the new, I welcome the good fortune of the new year.

The other is preparing various dishes for the New Year with my family many years ago. I often have to go through the steps of buying vegetables, buying spices, going to the supermarket, going to the market, selecting vegetables, washing vegetables, cooking, making staple food, making rice cakes, etc. The strange thing is that I don't feel tired. On the contrary, I feel very excited because every step of these things is full of joy and celebration, there is a peaceful and lively atmosphere everywhere, which is also the most concentrated expression of fireworks in the world. For me, it is a new year. It has the most atmosphere and is my favorite thing to do. The so-called family and loved ones are all around you. Nothing makes me feel more comfortable than these. I personally like making Western-style desserts, so when I have nothing to do at home and am bored, I don’t choose to look at my phone all the time. Instead, I stay in the kitchen and bake cakes. This is also my favorite thing to do during the Spring Festival.

Finally, what I like to do most during the Chinese New Year is eating melon seeds together with my family, chatting and watching the Spring Festival Gala. The Chinese New Year in my memory is this kind of scene. When the family discusses a sentence pattern or watches a sketch together, it is something that I feel particularly happy. The New Year’s Eve dinner is the most solemn and lively part of the Chinese New Year. The family washes, cooks and makes dumplings together. The family is busy and warm. At the same time, the Spring Festival is also the time when most people come together. I really like to take a family photo of my family as a souvenir every Spring Festival. Then I went to hang out with friends.
