Appreciation and Translation of Su Shunqin's Summer Meaning
The yard was deep and quiet, and I was lying on a bamboo mat, cold all over. Pomegranate flowers are in full bloom outside the window, and the virtual hall is red through the hanging bamboo curtain. Dense shade blocks the summer heat. It was noon when I woke up, and Huang Yinger's intermittent singing came from my ear.
Note 1 Other hospitals: small hospitals next to the main hospital. Canon: bamboo mats in summer. Qing: Cool. 2 through the curtain: through the curtain. 3 sleep: wake up.
Xia Yi commented on this poem. Every sentence has nothing to do with the summer scenery, and every sentence is full of refreshing meaning, which makes people feel like a breeze.
There are three points to pay attention to in the expression of poetry:
Light and ethereal with a pen: write about the courtyard and leave ink in the courtyard; Write pomegranate flowers and then apply curtains; Write green trees, as seen from the clear shade; When writing oriole, you can hear it from crows, and every sentence starts from the air, thus forming a bright and ethereal artistic conception corresponding to daytime and sleep.
The structure is natural and ingenious: the poem is about sleeping during the day, and the first three sentences are actually scenes before sleeping, but it was not until the last sentence that the word "dream sleep" was highlighted, which continued the scene after sleeping. It doesn't seem to continue. In fact, the quiet and hazy atmosphere in the first three sentences is the foreshadowing, and the sentence "It's noon" first lays the groundwork for sleeping during the day. As soon as the last sentence was pointed out, I felt that I was asleep quietly and suddenly woke up. My style was lively and gratifying, and I avoided going straight to the disease.
Distinctive but not weak. The backyard of the Broken Mountain Temple, usually built in the Tang Dynasty, reads: "My road twists and turns through a sheltered valley, branches and flowers, leading to a Buddhist retreat." Its image is similar to one or two sentences in this poem, but it often describes the thought of being born and the feeling of loneliness, and this poem gives people a free and easy feeling. Ouyang Xiu called Shun Qin "bold and unconstrained" (a beautiful article in Sacrifice), so although he wrote the same poem, he was able to combine beauty and elegance in a secluded place, being clear but not weak, escaping but not angry, which distinguished him from Wang and Meng.
The background of Xia Yi's creation This poem was written four years after the Qing Dynasty. After the poet was dismissed from office, he built Canglang Pavilion in Suzhou to live in seclusion. Xiayi was written when Suzhou lived in seclusion.
The meaning of summer The days in summer are very long, and the noon in summer is very hot. In summer, taking a nap has become a kind of enjoyment, and poets also talk about the comfort of taking a nap and waking up comfortably. In the poet's works, summer nap seems to be a fascinating theme. Since Tao Yuanming's famous sentence "Lying under the north window in May and June, when the cool wind comes, he calls himself the Lord of the West", there have been various interests of taking a nap in the poem. For example, Liu Zongyuan wrote "Summer Leisure" in the Tang Dynasty: "Southern States get drunk in the summer and sleep in the north for a few days. In the afternoon, there was no sound. Shan Tong knocked on the tea mortar opposite the bamboo. Zhang Song Wanqiu's Summer: "The yellow curtain and the green curtain break the flies, and the shadows don't sleep in the porch at noon. Pillow sea fish carved purple stone, fan Liangshan snow painted blue ribbon. "Song Yang Wanli's Early Summer Nap": "Sleeping relentlessly, watching children catch willow flowers. These relaxed poems are completely different from the heat of people who are scorching in the hot sun and steaming, and reflect the positive and loving interest in life. Su Shunqin's poem "Summer Meaning" also shows this theme.
The first three sentences of this poem focus on describing a quiet world in hot summer to set off the comfort of a nap. The first sentence, where I take a nap, "deep" means that the other courtyard is deep and quiet, so I feel "clear" because it is quiet, which embodies the synaesthesia of things and makes people feel the pleasant nap here intuitively. The second sentence is about the environment outside the hospital. The house in the yard is cool, and pomegranate flowers are in full bloom outside the window. Through the curtains, you can still feel its gorgeous colors. As you can imagine, the poet is lying on the mat, and the pomegranate is reflected in the room, which is soft in color and hypnotic. The third sentence combines the above two sentences, pointing out that this time is noon, saying that the courtyard is deep, and the shade is everywhere at noon, which is cool and refreshing. Through the above three sentences, the conditions for taking a nap are met, and you can take over to write a nap, but the poem jumps away and writes directly from the dream, with a flexible pen. After waking up, there was silence, which was punctuated by the intermittent sound of warblers. You can imagine the quietness and comfort after waking up and the quietness and comfort when sleeping. This is what the poet wants to express.
The whole poem consists of four sentences and is written around a nap. The first three sentences are before a nap and the last sentence is after a nap. You don't write a nap directly, but a nap is included in it, so jump with a pen. Every sentence in the poem is in harmony with summer, constantly using colors to express the scenery and express the poet's satisfaction, which is in sharp contrast with the heat and depression that summer afternoon should give people.

As soon as the last sentence was pointed out, I felt that I was asleep quietly and suddenly woke up. My style was lively and gratifying, and I avoided going straight to the disease.
Distinctive but not weak. The poem "Garden behind Broken Mountain Temple" in Tang Dynasty wrote: "My road twists and turns, through a sheltered valley, branches and flowers, to a Buddhist retreat". The image is similar to one or two sentences in this poem, but it often describes the idea of being born and the feeling of loneliness. This poem is free and easy. Ouyang Xiu called Shun Qin "bold and unrestrained" ("Beautiful Writing in Memory"), so although he co-wrote, he was able to combine beauty, elegance and coolness in a secluded place, which made him different from Wang and Meng.
Appreciating Su Shunqin's poem "Summer Meaning", we can write a quiet mood in the hot summer.
Farewell to the hospital is deep in summer, the word "summer" points out festivals, and the words "farewell to the hospital", "deep" and "clear" go deep into each other, forming a quiet atmosphere from the beginning. The other yard is the small yard next to the main yard. Deep, it is said that this small courtyard is deep in the house and deep in the courtyard, with a winding path leading to a secluded place. In this extremely quiet environment, some people have a bamboo mat. Han Yu's poem "A Gift from Zheng Qun" once described the bamboo mat as "the wind blows eight feet" and "when in doubt, it rises and blows." "Summer mat is clear" means exactly the same, saying that although it is midsummer, bamboo mats are cold in the depths of the yard. Deep is overlapping, deep and clear, with similar vowels and clear sound quality. This gives people a cool and profound feeling not only from the image of words, but also from the image of music.
"Pomegranate is everywhere, and the curtain is bright": The entrance opens the Mingxia mat with the word "curtain" written on it. The poet was lying on the table, looking outside, only seeing the pomegranate in full bloom, showing its bright charm through the curtain. Han Yu once said, "Liu Hua will shine brilliantly in May" ("Liu Hua"), but the second sentence changed its meaning and added a heavy curtain. Looking at pomegranate through the curtain, although the bonus is like fire, it is not harsh.
Tao Yuanming has a saying: "Love the forest in front of the hall, and store shade in midsummer" (The Book of the Republic of China). The third sentence of this poem is translated from Tao's poem, which says that although it is noon in midsummer, the yard is still clear, gloomy and cool. This sentence contrasts with the previous one in color. It can be seen from the "shade all over the ground" that trees have become forests, and shade is written instead of trees, which makes the yard cool and quiet.
What does the poet do in this quiet environment? It turned out that he had been comforted by the clear scenery in the yard. Although it was noon under the scorching sun, he was fast asleep. When he was "dreaming", he could only hear the crisp rhyme of one or two songbirds coming from the depths of the garden from time to time. It is the sound of warblers rather than orioles, which can not only see the shade of trees, but also reflect the deep tranquility of this small courtyard with the sound of whispering in silence. Tonggong Mountain is more secluded. According to Wang Ji's poem "If you enter Ye Xi" in the Southern Dynasties, Wang Wei's poem "Wu Xinyi" says: The bird is startled when the moon rises, and the spring creek rings when the moon rises. The artistic conception of the last sentence is similar to that of two poems.
