Which city does Bauhinia represent?
Bauhinia, scientific name Bauhinia, 1880 was first discovered in Hongkong, China. It was confirmed as a new species of Bauhinia by the then Governor Sir Henry Henry Arthur Blake and botanists. It was named after Sir Bree and originally translated into Bauhinia. Hong Kong people call it Bauhinia, and because it belongs to Bauhinia, it is called Bauhinia or Bauhinia, while Taiwan Province Province calls it Bauhinia because of its colorful flowers. As for its nickname "Hong Kong Orchid", it is directly translated from the English name "Hong Kong Orchid TrC'".
1965, bauhinia was officially designated as the city flower of Hong Kong. After 1997, the people of China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region continued to use the elements of bauhinia as the design patterns of regional emblems, regional flags and coins. This endemic species was introduced to Taiwan Province Province on 1967 and became the flower market tree in Chiayi City on 1984.
The regional flag of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has a red background, red and white colors symbolize one country, two systems, and a white bauhinia pattern with five-star stamens in the center. The blooming bauhinia symbolizes the prosperity of Hong Kong, and the red background symbolizes that Hong Kong will always rely on the motherland.
The emblem of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region is circular, with the standard words "People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region" and "Hong Kong" written around it, and the stamen pattern of five-star bauhinia on a red background in the middle, which has the same meaning as the regional flag.
