Is it useful to book a hotel and buy insurance?

Hello, you can cancel it, because prepaid hotels can't be cancelled. If your itinerary changes, won't the prepaid hotel money be deducted? If you buy cancellation insurance, the hotel advance payment will not be deducted in case of cancellation.
