Hotel history of Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong
Hong Kong fell in World War II,1941On the evening of February 25th, Governor Yang took the Star Ferry to the Peninsula Hotel to sign the surrender. During the Japanese occupation, the Peninsula Hotel was requisitioned by the Japanese army as a command center.
Since 1950, Peninsula Hotel has been called "Shadow Teahouse" because many movie stars like to have afternoon tea on the Peninsula. In the1980s, artists such as Leslie Cheung, Cherie Chung and Maggie Cheung were frequent visitors to the hotel. Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise also stayed.
1994 Hotel is expanded, with a 30-story wing building in the north and a heliport on the top floor, which is convenient for important guests to use helicopters to directly travel to and from Hong Kong International Airport or swim across Hong Kong.
