What should I do if my ID card expires and I want to stay in a hotel?
If you don't have an ID card, you can register at the hotel with other valid documents stipulated by law. According to the Regulations on Public Security Management of Hotel Industry, passengers should register with valid identity documents when staying in hotels. China citizens' identity documents mainly include household registration book, temporary id card, driver's license and passport.
Chinese mainland citizens who really need to go through the boarding formalities without valid identity documents shall declare and verify their identity at the local police station. The police station can print the information of the passenger in the national population information database, and affix the official seal to the passenger as the proof document for handling the flight formalities. You'd better reissue your ID card as soon as possible.
