What's cheap about Bangkok guidebooks?

Bangkok is a famous shopping paradise in Southeast Asia. There are not only the latest fashions from Europe, but also many exquisite local traditional handicrafts and local products. Generally speaking, it is not necessarily cost-effective to buy imported goods in Bangkok, but some brands set their factories in Thailand, so the prices of these "local famous brands" are very low.

Bangkok's famous special shopping Expo is held twice a year, in June and 65438+February respectively, attracting many tourists to shop here. The business hours of large shopping malls are generally 10:00-2 1:00, while individual small shops usually close at 7: 00 pm, of course, the shops in the night market open later.

Large shopping malls and shopping centers in Bangkok are basically gathered in the area near Siam Square, where the shopping environment is very good and the price is not particularly expensive.

There are many souvenirs and Bangkok specialties in the alleys of Th Khao San, Th Silom and Th Sukhumvit. If you want to find cheap accessories or household appliances, you'd better go to Chantuchak market, where there are all kinds, more choices and lower prices.

If unfortunately you can't spend the weekend in Bangkok, you might as well visit Suan Lumu Night Market, Papong Night Market and Phahurat Market in the evening, which will make you return home full of food.

There are also many small shops and markets near the Grand Palace and around Chinatown, selling small souvenirs and traditional handicrafts. The geographical location is convenient, but it has no advantage over the weekend market in Canada.

At the same time, cosmetics are also worth buying in Thailand. Recommended brands are L 'Oreal, Body Shop, Boots, etc. And their prices are much cheaper than those in China. If you want to buy cosmetics, you should go to the airport duty-free shop! Shopping in the duty-free shop at Bangkok International Airport has two advantages: first, it can avoid the trouble of tax refund and is not limited by the amount; Second, liquid commodities such as cosmetics and alcohol are not limited by capacity and can be taken on the plane.

Discount season

Generally speaking, the discount season in Thailand officially begins in late June of each year, and the mid-year discount will not end until the end of August. In terms of price, Bangkok can be said to be the cheapest shopping paradise in Asia because the basic price is lower than that of many cities. Many goods are cheaper than Beijing, Shanghai and even Hong Kong. Even if many brands don't discount, the price is less than half of that in China. Generally, there will be a bigger discount in the shopping season, and the tax refund is more cost-effective.

Refund of tax

It is required to buy a certain amount in the shopping mall marked "VAT refund for tourists" and leave the country within 60 days from the date of shopping. At the same time, when leaving the country, the total shopping amount is more than 5000 baht, and the daily consumption of a single store is not less than 2000 baht. Some shopping malls, such as Siam Palace in Bangkok, will require spending more than 5,000 baht on the same day to apply for tax refund.

How to apply for tax refund

After shopping, ask the store or shopping mall for the PP 10 form with the receipt, fill it out and submit it to the store for confirmation, which needs to be completed on the same day. The new PP 10 tax refund card can concentrate the consumption of different stores in one card, which is convenient for consumers.

Airport tax refund operation process

First, show your passport and shopping receipt at the VAT refund office of the airport customs. The staff will stamp your tax refund form (form PP 10), and sometimes you need to check the goods you bought.

After the security check, show your passport, receipt and stamped tax refund form at the VAT/Tax Refund Office. Valuables such as watches and jewels need to be checked again.

You can choose cash refund, bill refund (extra bank bill fee and postage) or credit card transfer (extra bank transfer fee).

Matters needing attention

Keep all receipts and credit card receipts. The latest tax rebate rate is progressive, with a maximum of 6%. Another very significant change is the cancellation of the tax refund fee of 100 baht, which used to be charged no matter how much tax you could refund.
