Stories of Southern Fujian Proverbs: 3 pieces

As a living fossil of China's mother tongue in ancient Central Plains, Minnan dialect has been proved by many senior linguists. The following is a collection of three Minnan proverbs and short stories I brought to you. I hope it will help you!

Minnan proverbs 1

One day, a suburban farmer went to the market to sell vegetables. He heard that the injured horse was cheap, so he bought one and took it home. As it was already dark when he got home, he tied his horse in a pigsty and prepared to kill it early tomorrow morning.

In the middle of the night, a thief went to the village to steal. He heard a big pig howling in the farmer's pigsty. When he came near, he saw that it was a big fat pig. He happily pried open the door of the pigsty. When he first entered the pigsty, he touched the injured horse's tail. A horse is most afraid of being pulled by its tail. As soon as he felt his tail was caught, he kicked his leg and hit the thief in the lower part of the body. The thief barked with pain. Hearing this, the farmer's family immediately rushed to the pigsty. When the thief saw someone coming, he begged: Let me go, I will never steal again! "

The next day, the story spread, and everyone in the village said, "Don't look at this bad horse." The farmer didn't want to kill the horse and fed it carefully. As a result, the injured horse became a strong horse.

This story shows that everyone's ability is big or small, so as long as he has a little advantage, don't underestimate or underestimate him.

This is a folk proverb, a bad horse has a step to kick. Next, I want to share with you another Minnan proverb, which is called "You can't build a chicken" or "You can't hatch a chicken if you gamble". Listener friends, "You can't hatch chickens if you cover them", saying that it is impossible to cover a hen and force it to hatch eggs when it is not squatting, just like the meaning of "tying a couple" and "pressing the cow's head to drink water" in Mandarin. It warns people that everything should respect objective laws and cannot be forced.

Listener friends, it is the instinct of hens to crouch in the nest and hatch eggs. After laying a nest of eggs, the hen began to hatch. At this time, even if there are no eggs in the nest, it will squat in the nest. This is the "squatting nest", and some are also called "laiwo". The hen in the nest woke up and was confused. It is said that it is awake because it feels that there are its children in the nest and can't leave the nest, otherwise it will die. During this period, it eats less and drinks less, but it doesn't forget to excrete feces outside the nest. It will also turn its nest from time to time and cover all the eggs with its body to the maximum extent. It is confused because it doesn't care if there are eggs in the nest. Even if there are duck eggs, goose eggs or other bird eggs or even stones in the nest, it still hatches carefully. In this case, some farmers often use all kinds of cruel means to torture the hen in the nest in order to wake up early and lay eggs early, or soak it in water, or tie its wings or feet, and so on. , but all to no avail, finally still can't make it back to normal.

The original intention of "building a chicken before it is hatched" is not to do anything that goes against the laws of nature, but now it has been extended to put two completely different people or things together, resulting in the inability to live in harmony and even making things messy. For example, because of different personalities or conflicts of interest, brothers and sisters proposed to separate families, but parents refused to do so in order to maintain the "unity" of the family. As a result, it backfired, disputes continued and the consequences were serious.

Well, after the Minnan proverb "You can't hatch a chicken", let's continue to say a Quanzhou proverb called "a bookcase, a head bucket".

Listener friends, "a bookcase, a bucket" is a unique proverb in Quanzhou. The book cage is a bamboo cage for holding books; The head bucket is used to hold the head. This proverb comes from the story of a scholar in ancient Jinjiang.

According to legend, in the 18th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1385), a boy named Wu Fu was born in a farmhouse in Cizao Village. Five Blessingg was gifted and lively since childhood. At the age of six, he can recite the three-character classic and learn the Analects of Confucius at the age of seven, so he is called a "little prodigy". At the age of eighteen, he became a quota student in a county school and enjoyed free treatment.

Xuanzong Xuande Five Shen Nian (1428), Quanzhou magistrate found that some forestry students in official schools were admitted under false pretenses, so he indiscriminately announced that all forestry students would be removed from the imperial examination. Most of the students who were expelled at that time felt wronged, but they were very angry, afraid to say anything, and sulked at home. Only Wu Fu said without fear of death: "Now, I have been greatly wronged. Although it is difficult for people to sue officials, no one has died since ancient times. How can I live in a world humiliated by power? I want to appeal and avenge my shame. " In this way, Wu Fu wrote a well-founded complaint and immediately appealed to the Quanzhou magistrate, but was turned away and refused to accept it. He went to Fuzhou, the provincial capital, to appeal, but it was still useless. After Wu Fu returned to China, he was determined to overcome all difficulties and went to Beijing to sue the court until his grievances were cleared.

When Wu Fubai's parents walked into Beijing, they walked from village to village with bookcases and buckets on their backs. After going through hardships from county to county, they finally arrived in Beijing smoothly, found a small inn to stay and prepared to complain to the court.

Emperor Xuande of the dynasty was a wise monarch who had received and accepted the victims who came to Beijing to complain many times. Beowulf finally found an opportunity to complain to the emperor personally and begged the emperor to let the people who were removed from the list take the screening exam again. He also said: "If Wang Kao fails, he would rather die and put his head in a bucket brought from home without regret." After hearing this, the emperor was deeply sympathetic and moved, so he immediately wrote a letter to imperial academy to give a question, and immediately informed all the dismissed people in Quanzhou to come to Kyoto to take the screening test under Tianmen.

The news spread like wildfire, and the students who were removed from Quanzhou were very surprised and happy, and actively prepared for the exam. After several screening tests, when the list was released publicly, Wu Fu ranked first, and other people with real talents and practical knowledge were on the list. Those impostors who spend a lot of money on exams are all ugly. Afterwards, whenever people talk about it, they admire Wu Fu's talent and courage.

Soon, Wu Fu was selected by the imperial court to serve as the county academic supervisor in Lishui County, Yingtianfu, Jiangsu Province. Later, due to outstanding achievements, he was promoted to Lishui County. When Wu Fu recalled the past, he said with deep feelings, "If I hadn't risked my life to fight, how could I be today?" Since then, the saying "one bookcase, one head bucket", together with this true story, has spread among Quanzhou people.
