Is it legal to float prostitutes in Macao?

Legal analysis: Macao law requires prostitutes not to solicit customers in public places. Although it is looser than the mainland and Hong Kong, it is still limited. According to this regulation, soliciting customers in hotels is not illegal. The implication is that legal whoring in Macao can only be carried out in hotels or private houses.

Legal basis: Article 30 of the Regulations on Administrative Penalties for Public Security prohibits prostitution and whoring, and it is forbidden to introduce or shelter prostitution and whoring. Offenders shall be detained for not more than 15 days, given a warning, ordered to make a statement of repentance or be reeducated through labor according to regulations, and may also be fined not more than 5,000 yuan. If a crime is constituted, criminal responsibility shall be investigated according to law.

Whoever whores with a young girl under the age of 14 shall be punished as rape in accordance with the provisions of Article 139 of the Criminal Law.
