What are the fun places in South Africa?

A friend suggested going to South Africa.

I was a little resistant at first.

Like many people,

I am worried that it is not safe here.

However, after arriving, I realized that South Africa is so beautiful. Cape Town has beautiful coastline, lovely streets, and some of the best restaurants in the world... Today, let’s take a look at what fun Cape Town has to offer.

Sharing her travel experiences, dressing tips and the most popular fashion items from a unique perspective

Bo Kaap

The first thing we should visit is the Malay District in Cape Town. The most special thing here is the colorful houses all over the street. The local Malays call the ancient community Bo Kaap.

This is called Wale street. It is said that the Malays living here were first trafficked to South Africa as slaves in the 17th century. During apartheid, houses of color were not allowed to have house numbers. However, in order to make it easier for postmen to find their homes, locals came up with a way to use colors to distinguish different houses.

Later, after the apartheid system was abolished, although there were house numbers here, the colorful houses were still used. Many people say that God overturned the color palette here, making it a very distinctive local scenery.

Boulders Penguin Colony

Penguins are not only found in Antarctica. After seeing them in Tasmania before, I didn’t expect to see cute penguins in South Africa this time. The species here are African penguins, also called spotted-billed penguins. They are relatively small and not afraid of people at all.

The little penguins live in Simon's Town, which is about 35 minutes' drive from Cape Town. This is also on the way to the Cape of Good Hope, so remember to plan your time well. The scenery here is very beautiful, and the park is quite big. There are little penguins almost everywhere, on rocks, in the grass, and on the beach. There is no need to worry about not seeing them.

Go a little further and enter another park, and you will see a large number of penguins on Boulders Beach. It is said that there are more than 3,000 of them. The group of penguins enjoying the sun on the beach is so cute.

The cape of Good Hope

Leaving Boulders Beach, you will pass by a beautiful and calm coastline, drive all the way south, and you will come to the intersection of the Indian Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean - the Cape of Good Hope.

This is the southwesternmost tip of the African continent. Standing here, you have the Indian Ocean on your left and the Atlantic Ocean on your right. Therefore, the collision of ocean currents caused many huge waves, which was also called the Storm Point.

The water at the Cape of Good Hope is very blue, the sea breeze is strong, and the scenery is very spectacular. You can also climb the hill next to it and overlook the endless blue sea and sky.

However, it should be noted that the closing time here is 6 pm in spring and summer, and 5 pm in autumn and winter, so if you arrive after that, you will not be able to enter. It is necessary to grasp the time well to avoid being rejected.

Chapman's Peak

This is the most beautiful stretch of road we have ever driven in South Africa. On the way back from the Cape of Good Hope, just in time for sunset, we drove along the sea. The sea, with the cliffs of Chapman's Peak on one side. It is a mountain road about 9 kilometers long with 114 turns. It is said to be one of the most steep cliffs.

However, on this mountain, which is recognized as one of the most beautiful cliffs in the world, we found a lookout to stop, and were very lucky to catch up with the sea of ??clouds.

This winding road stretches from Hout Bay to Noordhoek. We drove up unintentionally, but got what may be the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen. I heard that even when there are no clouds, the scenery below is very shocking.

Bree Street

When it comes to shopping, Bree Street is my favorite street. It is right next to the Belmond Hotel where we live.

You can describe it as petty bourgeoisie - it is indeed full of stylish shops; you can also say it is chill - the streets are full of cafes and bars, which are full of people enjoying life during the day...

You can see it The local people are really sensitive to color, and the bright colors are matched just right. There are also cacti that can be seen everywhere, which also gives it a bit of an African feel. Friends who can’t go to Bo Kaap, it’s a good idea to come here.

We just found a small shop and sat down, chatting with friends and watching the bustling crowds passing by. Isn’t such an afternoon too happy?

Maison Mara< /p>

In addition, another store that must be mentioned is Maison Mara. This is a boutique shop run by a local mother and daughter, and its taste is definitely not inferior to any other fashion city stores.

Because her daughter Kelly likes fashion, she went to Paris to study design. After returning to South Africa, she opened this store. The design is simple and fresh. It has three floors, each with a different theme. There is also a romantic small balcony on the top floor. Every detail here is up to her.

Of course it also includes product selection. You can buy Proenza Schouler, J W Anderson, Loewe... and many other fragrance and candle brands such as CARRIERE FRERES, LOLA JAMES HARPER and more. Most importantly, you can get tax refunds.

WineTasting

Before coming here, it was hard for me to imagine that in Cape Town, you can drive to the beach in one hour and hike in the city. However, what’s even chillier is the surrounding area. The wineries, large and small, will definitely make your trip worthwhile. Cape Town is close to the South Pacific, and the special climate environment formed by the ocean and mountains creates excellent conditions for wine production.

Constantia

The first one I want to talk about is Constantia. Cape Town’s oldest vineyard is located here, and it is also the winery closest to the city. It is said that the first governor of Cape Town, Simon van der Stel, began planting grapes on a large scale in 1679, which led to the creation of today's Vin de Constance dessert wine.

There are many famous wineries here, such as Groot, Steenberg, Klein, etc. Almost any one of them is breathtaking. Why not find a winery to enjoy the beautiful scenery and have an authentic lunch at the same time.

Delaide Graff Estate

The next thing we want to introduce is the highlight of our trip, Delaide Graff Estate. Before setting off, a friend from the South African Tourism Bureau told me about this place. Yes, it is a winery owned by the famous jeweler Graff!

In 2003, Mr. Laurence Graff fell in love with it after arriving here for the first time. After buying this place, David Dollina was hired to design it. Today, we have a perfect lodge that integrates winery, restaurant and accommodation.

It can be reached in less than an hour’s drive from Cape Town. Among the mountains, Delaire Graff Estate overlooks the vast vineyards of Stellenbosch. You can also go to the shop inside the winery to take home some souvenirs. From clothes to accessories, as well as many household items, they are all full of holiday style.

If you plan to visit a nearby winery, you might as well come here to have something to eat and take a break. Because every dish is really delicious. Especially the three flavors of oyster, you must try them!

Grande Provence

The last thing I want to talk about is the place where we stayed during this winery trip, called Grande Provence Heritage Wine Estate. Only when we arrived did we find out that this place is owned by the same owner as the Huka Lodge where we stayed in New Zealand.

This hotel has a history of more than 300 years and is located in the Franschhoek Valley.

30 hectares of vineyards are spread all over the valley floor. The architectural style of Cape Dutch is very warm. The pure and simple beauty is perfectly combined with the clear modern design. It is very suitable for a stay.

Of course there is also a wine tasting program here. The Winemaker will personally introduce each signature wine. In addition, the hotel’s restaurant is also great!

In fact, there are far more places worth visiting in CapeTown than these. You can also take the cable car to Table Mountain for a panoramic view of the entire city, you can also go to the Waterfront to browse the market, and you can even hike to the top of Lion's Head and stay there. The most beautiful photos.
