How to thaw shrimp?

The first kind of cold water salt water safely thaws shrimp. Add 2 tablespoons of salt to 4 cups of cold water (enough to completely submerge the shrimp).

Take out the frozen shrimps and soak them in cold salt water for 15-20 minutes until they are completely melted.

Drain the salt water and let it stand for 5 minutes.

Personally, I like this method, because cold water helps to thaw the shrimp quickly, and the salt in the water adds juiciness and taste to the shrimp. In addition, you can soak the frozen shrimp in cold water and salt water, and prepare tools and ingredients for cooking shrimp, but you must adjust the salt in your own dishes so as not to become too salty.

The second way to thaw shrimp in plastic bags is to open disposable transparent plastic bags and insert chopsticks into several small holes.

Put the frozen shrimp in a plastic bag.

Put the water in the bowl 15-20 minutes until they are completely thawed.

This is a very scientific thawing method. When the holes in the plastic bag come into contact with water, the frozen shrimps will not be completely exposed to water, and the taste of the shrimps will not be affected, so it is safer to eat these shrimps.

The third way to thaw shrimp with tap water is to put the frozen shrimp in a large sieve or colander.

Leave the filter under running water for a few minutes, and the shrimp will overflow until it is completely thawed.

This method is the fastest thawing method, but it will waste a lot of water. In addition, make sure the water temperature is as low as possible. Warm water will lead to uneven heating of shrimp, which will affect the taste.

The fourth way to thaw prawns in the refrigerator is to freeze prawns in a closed container.

Put the container in the refrigerator for 8 hours or thaw overnight.

Wash with cold water before use.

This is the most commonly used method to thaw shrimp or other shellfish in restaurants and hotels. The reason why I don't often do this is because I can't plan ahead like this. I usually start thinking about dinner too late, but if you are cooking shrimp dishes for a party, or know that you will have guests, this is a good way to ensure that your shrimp will thaw the chef when you are ready. Please note that 8 hours is the best time for shrimp or shrimp to thaw in the refrigerator.
