Which is better, Shanghai or Singapore?
1. Urban planning
What's the difference between Shanghai and Singapore? First of all, demolition is a big problem. It's not as simple as building a tall building on the flat ground in Pudong. Of course, no one has the final say in the overall planning. Looking out from Pudong airport, the economic and trade building is magnificent, but not very beautiful. The Oriental Pearl is a bit inferior to others. Isn't this your problem? What a big compass sculpture, which makes people feel a little abrupt.
Many places in Puxi have changed, and there are many commercial high-rise buildings. Nanjing Road has become a pedestrian street, and business is extremely good. Huaihai Road has naturally become more exotic, and high-end shopping malls are row upon row. Strangely, China Bank, which is not commonly used by the public, often appears, but ICBC's ATM is not as convenient as Bao Er's. Nanpu bridge, the majestic end of Lupu Bridge, complements several undersea tunnels.
Looking down from the upstairs of the Oriental Pearl, there is not much beauty in the bird's eye view. The Bund was lost by the tall buildings behind it. Although elevated roads are everywhere, the road structure is not as pleasant and comfortable as Singapore. From the viaduct, only the two ends of Yan 'an Road are beautiful, and the others can't keep up. China uses bullet trains, and the distance between trains is relatively narrow.
What about Singapore? There is a shopping center outside every subway station. Everything in every building, from fashion to food, is very clean and convenient. Go once a week, just for fun. The shopping mall on Orchard Road is even more magnificent. Dong, a famous poet, is the site of local Chinese businessmen, occupying a corner and standing opposite Istanbul. There are also many local and Japanese shopping malls, which are exquisite and dazzling.
In my conscience, Orchard Road is more advanced than Huaihai Road. The high-rise buildings on Thornton Avenue are more scattered than those in Shanghai, which is a bit like the layout of downtown Los Angeles. Foreign buildings often look beautiful, not flashy, because they have strength. It is a good phenomenon to notice that few people litter and spit everywhere now. But it's not easy to find the trash can. Let's talk about these first.
2. Public transportation
Going out every day, public transportation is a headache. Unlike America, everyone has a car and the ground can be paved. Singapore and Shanghai are both land and gold. Then how to manage urban traffic is not a problem that can be ignored. The first is to strengthen and improve the original transportation system. Shanghai is the only place in China with one card. In other words, with a car card, you can travel all over the city. This is the same as Singapore.
The buses in Singapore are all Volvo, with good quality, air conditioning, cleanliness and comfort. Even in the rush hour, the order is very good, no one is crowded and no one quarrels. If people are crowded, they will consciously wait for the next one. Sometimes they have to wait for several cars, and no one will rush to get on from the back door. Singapore has a well-developed public transport system, and the government also encourages citizens to take buses to reduce private cars and prevent traffic jams.
Are there trolleybuses in Shanghai that I haven't been to before, but there are definitely more taxis than buses on the street. Taxis are very convenient and the service attitude is good, because there is competition between companies. But it seems that the utilization rate is very high and the depreciation is very severe. It is said that taxis are scrapped after driving for a year. Taxis in Singapore, like those in Los Angeles, are Ford cars, which are spacious and comfortable and relatively new. It is convenient to go anywhere, and it is not very expensive.
For people who own private cars, one car can support a house in Shanghai, and the monthly cost is about 1500 yuan. Shanghai's local car license plate is also more expensive. But compared with Singapore, it's still nine Niu Yi cents. The price of car license in Singapore is getting higher and higher, and the better the car, the more expensive it is, almost to the point where the working class is discouraged. It is precisely because of this that the traffic in Singapore is the smoothest, benefiting many people.
It is said that in order to encourage the development of domestic automobile industry, neither Beijing nor Shanghai has adopted Singapore's high-pressure policy. So the rush hour traffic jam is similar to that in Taipei, Hong Kong and new york, and it is still very painful. This is something that residents of Singapore and LA can't feel. More and more people get their driver's licenses through driving school studies and exams, but they rarely have the opportunity to practice, especially because the domestic roads are complicated and the road conditions are not good, so it is a little difficult for novices to get on the road.
3. residence
Singaporeans usually live in buildings built by the government with provident fund loans, commonly known as ancestral houses. Better live in an apartment built by a private company. A little better, I will live in a townhouse, like the town house here, which is also called a conjoined villa in China. Of course, you can afford a detached house, which is really hard to get. However, the presidential palace is still very rich, and everyone can visit it every National Day.
Compared with renting a house, there is still a big gap between the buildings of ordinary citizens in Shanghai. In particular, there seems to be no special person to clean the external environment of every household, which is very problematic from the appearance of the building to the internal cleaning. But citizens are used to living in old houses, and they are used to it. People with some conditions will decorate their rooms in by going up one flight of stairs to offset the unfavorable environment outside. However, there are still many differences between regions and communities.
Many places are as high-grade as foreign countries, especially many farmers' houses are very stylish. I don't understand what farmers live in such a beautiful house. The streets are generally widened, but the pattern is still not much different from the past. On the contrary, it lacks the traditional customs and culture that Singapore can preserve, as if there were fast food restaurants everywhere. In the city center, I can't even find pancakes, fried dough sticks and fried steamed bread. Or replaced by migrant workers and people from Taiwan Province province.
The climate in Singapore is summer all year round, and the temperature difference is very small. But the hottest time is not more than 34 degrees, even if the air conditioner is not turned on. In order to save electricity, ordinary citizens can use electric fans instead of turning on air conditioners. Especially in high-rise buildings, the wind is strong and cool. But Shanghai is different. It's nearly 40 degrees in summer, and it's too cold in winter, so it's very painful not to turn on the air conditioner. But because the population is too large and dense, turning on the air conditioner will cause the outdoor temperature to rise again.
Eat and live.
The life of every household is closely related every day, which is the so-called vegetable basket project. Ordinary residents in Shanghai love to go shopping in food markets, supermarkets and hypermarkets, which has made great progress compared with the previous small food markets. However, everyone knows that the food in the supermarket is not fresh enough. But now most people are trying to make it convenient. Usually go to work to have breakfast or go to those snack bars that have survived the competition. The grades are different.
Life in Singapore is very distinctive. Every day from morning till night, wet Bashari people come and go. All the stalls are filled with fresh vegetables, fish, poultry and meat just shipped from Malaysia for anyone to choose from. There are many food stalls nearby, offering rich breakfast, lunch and dinner, fresh soybean milk fried dough sticks, Hainan chicken rice, fruit noodles, stuffed tofu and so on. There are even stalls selling clothes, toys and kitchen supplies, which are very convenient.
There are banks, post offices and shops of various brands around. A good shopping center also has fountains, and the street decoration is unique, especially the sanitation is clean and there is no greasy feeling. The streets of Shanghai food street can't be cleaned. Anyway, everyone is used to it. But the sanitary conditions in those foreign fast food are very good, which makes people feel very upscale. Toilets are much cleaner now, but there is little toilet paper.
5. Cultural education
Shanghai is a big city with many famous universities at home and abroad. But it is generally old and lacks vitality. This is incomparable to Singapore, because its government has spared no expense to introduce a large number of talents from Europe, America and China to enrich its educational strength and keep up with the advanced world level. Therefore, many high-tech academic conferences in Asia are held in Singapore, where five-star hotels have many conference halls and each conference is well received.
Although there are only two universities in Singapore, National University and Nanyang Technological University, many local and foreign scientific and technological talents are cultivated every year. The facilities and conditions of the school are first-class. After graduation, I went to work in industrial and government-supported technology companies, which made a lot of contributions for Singapore to stand at the forefront of Asian technology. In terms of software design and implementation, the process there is not as bad as that of big American companies.
