Ziyang belongs to Ankang City, Shaanxi Province.

Ziyang County is located in the south of Shaanxi Province, on the upper reaches of Hanjiang River, at the northern foot of Daba Mountain, with Hanbin District and Langao County in the east, zhenba county in the west, Chengkou County and Wanyuan City in the south and Hanyin County in the north. It is located between east longitude 108 06- 108 43' and north latitude 32 08-32 49', with a total area of 2204 square kilometers.

Ziyang is named after Zhang Boduan, the founder of Nanzong, who practiced here, which means "Purple gas comes from the east and the sun shines". China is the only county named after Taoism.
