Is there altitude sickness in Tibet? How high is the altitude?

? Tibet has altitude sickness, with an altitude of about 4,000 to 5,000.

Altitude sickness is a common disease in plateau area, which is caused by people entering the plateau at an altitude of more than 3000 meters and being exposed to low pressure and hypoxia.

This kind of area is generally at low pressure, with thin low-pressure air, high ultraviolet intensity and low temperature. Generally speaking, it is because residents living in the mainland enter the plateau area, and because of their poor adaptability, altitude sickness occurs in low-pressure and low-oxygen environment.

Climatic characteristics

Due to the influence of topography, landforms and atmospheric circulation, the climate in Tibet is unique, complex and diverse. Generally speaking, the climate in the northwest is cold and dry, and the climate in the southeast is warm and humid.

So from southeast to northwest, the climate types are tropical, subtropical, temperate plateau, sub-frigid plateau, frigid plateau and so on. In the alpine valleys and southern slopes of the Himalayas in southeastern Tibet, due to the repeated uplift of the terrain, the temperature gradually drops, and the climate changes vertically from tropical or subtropical climate to temperate, cold temperate and frigid climate.
