Can I stay in a hotel if my ID card expires?
According to the relevant laws and regulations of our country, you can't stay in hotels when your ID card expires, but according to the detailed regulations of various provinces and cities, you can use temporary id card and Hukou Book to stay. Take Hunan Province as an example, you can use temporary id card and Hukouben to check in. Hotels must register when they receive passengers. At the time of registration, the passenger's identity documents shall be checked and truthfully registered according to the prescribed items. To receive accommodation from overseas tourists, an accommodation registration form shall also be submitted to the local public security organ within 24 hours. According to relevant laws and regulations, China citizens' identity documents mainly include: China people's household registration book, resident identity card, temporary id card, driver's license, passport, seaman's card, pass, soldier's card, etc.
Chinese mainland citizens who really need to check in without any valid identity documents should report to the local police station and verify their identity. The police station can print the information of the passenger in the national population information database, and affix the official seal to the passenger as the proof document for handling the flight formalities.
Legal basis:
Article 11 of the People's Republic of China (PRC) National Identity Card Law * * * If the resident identity card expires, the citizen's name changes, or the certificate is seriously damaged and unrecognizable, it shall apply for a replacement; If there are errors in the registration of resident identity cards, the public security organ shall promptly correct them and issue a new card; When you get a new card, you must return the original card. If a resident identity card is lost, it shall apply for a replacement.
Citizens under the age of 16 may apply for renewal, renewal or replacement of their resident identity cards under any of the circumstances listed in the preceding paragraph.
When a citizen goes through the formalities of permanent residence transfer, the public security organ shall record the change of the address of the permanent residence of the citizen in the machine-readable item of the resident ID card and inform it.
Derivative problem:
Can an expired ID card still be used?
The National Identity Card Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) does not explicitly stipulate that the national identity card cannot be used after its expiration, but citizens who require it to expire should apply for it again. In theory, they should not use expired national identity cards, but in fact, they have successfully used expired national identity cards. However, in order to facilitate citizens' social activities and maintain social order, it is not recommended to use expired national identity cards.
