Is Hanoi, Vietnam worth visiting?
Generally speaking, Hanoi is not very fun, but there are some places that are more distinctive.
Vietnam is a country that becomes more beautiful as you go south, and Hanoi is in the north of Vietnam. Apart from being the political center of Vietnam, it basically has no other characteristics. However, many travelers regard Hanoi as the first stop for traveling in Vietnam (a large part of the reason is that the transportation here is relatively developed, and buses, trains, and airplanes are very convenient)
Hoi An Ancient Town: small but It is a very spiritual place, with beaches, ancient buildings and various small shops and coffee houses. It can beat almost all tourist ancient towns in China (Fenghuang, Xitang, etc.). In addition, if you take a bus from Hanoi Hoi An, another section of the road is very beautiful (it is the road from Hue to Hoi An, some travel guides call it one of the must-see scenery in life)
Nha Trang Or Da Nang: The beaches in these two cities are good, and these are the two places to go sunbathing.
Ho Chi Minh (also known as Saigon), the economic center of Vietnam, still has the appearance of the city. The color of the French colony and many cultural and historical attractions are worth visiting.
Hanoi 36 Ancient Street. Where things were sold in the past, every street sold the same product. Now it has evolved into an ancient street, selling all kinds of art, small restaurants, small commodities, coffee, slippers, many of which are Chinese products, but the prices are cheating, so if you bargain, cut the price in half. It has become a tourist place designed to trap foreigners. Local Vietnamese rarely go there to eat or buy food.
Hoan Kiem Lake. Right next to the ancient street, it can be said to be the sacred lake in the eyes of Vietnamese. It is very small. It is said that there are giant turtles in it. There is a turtle tower in the middle of the lake, as well as Qixu Bridge and a temple where Guan Yu and Red Rabbit are worshipped. Wait a minute, oh yes, there is also a big gold-plated turtle. Let's go eat ice cream next to Hoan Kiem Lake. It's really good and there are many people.
Of course it is the Confucian Temple. The scale is incomparable to the one in Beijing, but its popularity is much higher than that of the Beijing Confucian Temple. There are Jinshi steles on the left and right sides inside, which enshrine Confucius and his four major disciples. There are two big turtles at the door, and two cranes stand on them. The turtle heads are shiny and polished by the care of devout students and parents.
West Lake Bar. In the middle of the West Lake is Qingnian Road, which artificially cuts the West Lake in half. The snacks nearby are okay, and the scenery is also good. You can see young couples sitting by the lake. President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam once said that a fairy in the sky accidentally broke a mirror, and a large piece fell in Hangzhou, China, and a small piece fell in Hanoi.
Let’s go to Ba Dinh Square. Equivalent to Tiananmen Square in China. Next to it are the Presidential Palace and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh Memorial Hall and the Heroes Monument. This place is still very beautiful especially in the evening, but be sure to see it during the day first. I had a few chats with the soldier brother who used to stand guard there, and by the way, I wanted to complain about you guys guarding President Ho Chi Minh. Can you tighten your belts? They are all slipping on top of that, as well as the two people standing guard at the entrance to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. , can we straighten our waist?
Let’s go eat something Vietnamese. Remember that only roadside stalls are authentic. Don’t go to so-called hotels or restaurants, especially the famous Lotus Hotel next to the West Lake. They are expensive and not authentic. Beef rice noodles, chicken rice noodles, squeeze two lemons, add some crushed chili, wow, it's addictive. Sticky rice and spring rolls will make your mouth water. If you can eat rain and dew, you can also try the shrimp paste. After more than a year of training, Yulu finally came to accept it. Only the smell of shrimp paste can be smelled from afar.
Those who are interested can go to Xiahedong. In the place where silk is sold in Vietnam, there is a movie called "The Woman in White Silk", which is very interesting. When I went there, it was being demolished, so I saw a few silk shops. What a pity.
You can go to the Red River. Just a walk by the river. Nothing.
If you are willing, you can go to Big C in Vietnam, a large supermarket. But you can feel the atmosphere of a Vietnamese supermarket.
If you are interested, you can visit Vietnamese universities, but they are all very small. Hanoi National University, University of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Encyclopedia University.
You can go to see Hanoi Cathedral in the evening.
Feel the crowds of men and women in front of the cathedral. They are not praying. They are sitting on the curb drinking ice tea (tea water with ice cubes) and eating melon seeds. It is quite spectacular and photography is prohibited.
