Huge waste

In China, it has been an old habit for twenty or thirty years for the hotel industry to provide disposable articles for free. Imagine that there are about 280,000 hotels in China, and each hotel offers "six items", which are usually used once by guests or thrown away after use, resulting in amazing waste.

Jinjiang Inn is a well-known economy hotel chain in China. Li Yukai, vice president of Jinjiang Inn Co., Ltd. told the reporter that in order to reduce the waste caused by the "six small pieces", Jinjiang Inn cooperated with the two-sided needle (Yangzhou) Hotel Products Co., Ltd. to recycle the plastic toothbrush handles and plastic combs in the "six small pieces" and return them to the two-sided needle company for secondary use. Two-sided needle company sells plastic products to hotels and some of them are put on the market.

Jin Lan, General Manager of Two-sided Needle (Yangzhou) Hotel Products Co., Ltd. measures the recycled waste plastics. Jinjiang Inn * * * owns more than 500 hotel chains, consumes 654.38 million sets of toothbrushes and combs every day, and can recycle 654.38+0.500 kilograms of plastic. On average, each Jinjiang Inn can recycle about 3 kilograms of plastic. According to a rough estimate of 280,000 hotels nationwide, 840 tons of plastic can be recycled every day, which is more than 300,000 tons a year.

According to the calculation that the production of 1 ton plastic needs more than 3 tons of oil, the hotel industry needs 1 10,000 tons of oil to extract the plastic needed for toothbrushes and combs every year.

Zhang Jingfu, assistant to the president of China Hotel Association, said: "The six small items are only a part of the waste of the hotel industry with large water, energy and gas consumption."
