How about Liugengtang (Ho's Grand Ancestral Hall) in Shawan?
Liugengtang is located in Shawan Town, Panyu District. It was built in the first year of Deyou in the Southern Song Dynasty (1275) and was destroyed several times later. Now it was expanded during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, more than 70 years earlier than the Chenjia Temple in Guangzhou (built at noon 1890). Shawan Liugeng Hall, also known as He's Temple, is a big temple of He's in Shawan. The word "stay till" is taken from "the Yin ancestors planted it for generations, leaving the heart behind to repair it", meaning to build a temple for the benefit of future generations.
The main features of Liugengtang in Shawan are numerous columns, exquisite carvings, rich couplets and magnificent momentum. There are 1 12 stone columns and wooden columns in Liugeng Hall. The raw materials of these wooden pillars were purchased from Southeast Asian countries at that time. In terms of carving, Liugeng Hall retains exquisite stone carving, wood carving, brick carving and gray carving, which reflects the exquisite architectural art of Lingnan Garden.
Liugengtang covers an area of 3,300 square meters, with high terrain in the north and low terrain in the south. In turn, it is Dachangtang, Datian Street, Shanmen, Yimen (archway), Danhuan (patio), Platform (Diaoyutai), Xiangxian Hall, Sleeping Hall (Liugeng Hall), East-West Corridor and Linz.
The first entrance is the mountain gate. In front of Liugengtang Mountain, there is a broad Datian Street (Square) paved with large bluestones. Datian Street faces a pond with Ma Shi and eight stone platforms with flagpoles on both sides. This flagpole was used to erect a flag in ancient times. There are red brick walls on the east and west sides of Datian Street, and colored gray sculptures, such as "Dragon Playing with Beads", "Dragon and Phoenix Becoming Auspicious" and "Kirin Becoming Auspicious", are attached to the walls, with fine workmanship and vivid images. Just north of Datian Street is the main entrance of Liugeng Hall, which is magnificent and solemn. On the door, there is a horizontal plaque with the words "He's Grand Ancestral Hall" on a red background. On both sides of the door, couplets say: "The predecessors continue to enjoy, and more are the same as the little ones." The couplets show that the construction of Liugengtang has gone through dozens of generations and hundreds of years, in order to make future generations live better, and hope that all the people will help each other in the same boat and live in harmony forever.
The two doors at the main entrance are all made of hardwood, and each door has a military commander wearing a golden helmet and shining armor as the door god, using the traditional heavy-colored mural technique in China, which is extremely bright and dazzling. On both sides of the door are two stone drums, which are symbols of fame. The drum base is engraved with auspicious patterns, among which the lion-shaped beast is engraved on the front. The side is engraved with auspicious patterns such as "Old Dragon Son" and "Sanyang Qitai". The east and west sides of the gate are wrapped by three stone pillars, wooden pillars and gold joists. In front is the ceremony platform, which is used to receive gifts; Then there is the "Music Station", which is used to welcome the roll call. In addition, there are two Drum Towers, one for filial piety and the other for younger brother. Together, they form the facade of Liugeng Hall, which initially shows the grandeur of this ancient building.
The most noteworthy thing about the main entrance is the beam at the top of the door. The wood carvings on the beams are extremely exquisite, especially the 33 triple wishful bucket arches called "humps" in ancient buildings. The contents of the sculpture are varied, or exotic flowers, birds and beasts, or historical story characters are lifelike. The whole main entrance, beam and bucket arch together constitute a group of exquisite Lingnan architectural art treasures.
Entering the main entrance, a tall stone monument square stands in front of people. This stone tablet square is called Yimen in ancient buildings and belongs to the second entrance of Liugeng Hall. The doorplate is a stone carving written by Chen Baisha, a famous calligrapher in the Qing Dynasty, which shows that Shi Wen in Shawan is a scholarly family, and many people have won the imperial examinations in past dynasties.

Monument Square is divided into three doorways by eight stone pillars, and the top is carved with patterns of flowers, birds and beasts, including red roses, gorgeous peonies, white chrysanthemums and powerful falcons. A tall building with eaves on all sides, supported by wooden arches and floating out layer by layer. The main ridge of Monument Square is a colorful dragon, with its head in the west and its feet in the east, carved from gray plastic. The colorful dragon is about to fly high, with a complete expression, and is shaped at the top of the monument square, full of vitality and auspicious meaning.
When you cross the Monument Square and arrive at Danyong (big yard), you can see the four vigorous and powerful Chinese characters "Three Phoenix Liu Fang" on the forehead of the Monument Square. This is in recognition of the three brothers who were admitted to the Jinshi in Shawan at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty. At that time, these three brothers were honored as "He Jia San Feng" and passed down to later generations.
In addition to the instrument door, the second entrance also includes the back Dan ring (patio), the platform and the corridor on the east side. The patio is paved with red bricks. The platform (also called Diaoyutai) is built on the north side of the patio, which is 1 m higher than the patio. It was originally a stage for people to watch plays on festive days. Its cornerstone consists of a row of 15 marble, and the marble is carved with patterns such as "Old Godson", "Double Phoenix Peony", "Double Lion Playing with Beads", "Rhino Looking at the Moon", "Pine and cypress Arts and Sciences", pine, plum, bamboo, chrysanthemum and peony. The knife method is natural and delicate. It's an ancient stone carving from Yuan Dynasty to next year.
There are also five red stone carvings of birds and beasts of different sizes on the east and west walls of the platform, which are equally remarkable. There are 4 stone pillars, 8 wooden pillars and 24 * * pillars in the East-West Corridor. It used to be a place for guests to rest during sacrifices, but now it is an exhibition room for precious cultural relics. Standing on the platform, looking around, there are more than 60 pillars in the Xiangxian Hall and the East-West Corridor in the north, which are staggered and intertwined with reality, just like the keys of a piano, making people feel like hearing a classical music, melodious, ups and downs, and surging emotions, as if they were in the ocean of art.
Xiangxian Temple, also known as Xiangxian Temple, is rare in ancient temples with a depth of more than 17 meters. In the center of the main hall, two pieces of red painted Jin Mu memorial tablets "Da Zong Bo" and "Xiang Xian Dian" are hung in tandem. "Da Zong Bo" refers to He Qilong, the second generation of Shawan Lamp Factory, who was the minister of rites in Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty. At that time, the minister of rites was called "uncle" "Xiang" is designed to commemorate He Deming, the ancestor of the Shawan Hejia family. The xiangxian temple is supported by four stone pillars and 24 large wooden pillars, and the two embrace each other. The beams, fang and hump archways are all carved with complex wood carvings such as birds, animals, flowers, fruits, insects and fish, which are absolutely exquisite. Being in such a spacious and tall hall, the huge column forest feels more solemn and solemn, and the respect for the predecessors arises unconsciously.
Behind the middle seat is the East-West Gallery, which has eight red sandstone pillars and lotus petals carved on the back. It is a beautiful and unique relic of the Ming Dynasty. The back bedroom is the last entrance of the study room, which is divided into three rooms: the middle, the east and the west. The largest shrine in the middle is rectangular, and many auspicious patterns are carved with gold-plated paint, which is dazzling. A horizontal plaque with black characters on a white background hangs under the eaves of the house, and there is a pair of woodcut couplets on both sides: "India and Germany have planted their ancestors, but their hearts are left behind." Pointed out the original intention of Liugengtang. At present, there are exhibitions of Panyu historical figures on both sides of the bedroom.
In the west, there are bronze statues of He Liutang, He Shaoxia and He, the "He Sanjie" of Guangdong Music School. In the east, there are statues of Qu Dajun, a poet of the Qing Dynasty in Panyu, and Gao, Chen, three outstanding artists of Lingnan Painting School. Between the things in the bedroom, there is a famous folk art in Panyu-Shawan floating color sculpture. Shawan floating color has a history of hundreds of years, and it is famous at home and abroad for its bright colors, vivid modeling, slender colored stalks and ingenious devices.
