Travel tips:
1. The problem of purchasing tickets. To buy tickets for the Forbidden City, you need to buy tickets online. It is recommended to buy tickets from Ctrip or the official website of the Forbidden City. You need to buy them ten days in advance. Tickets are not sold in the Forbidden City scenic spots, so all tickets need to be purchased online and with real names.
2. The basic route planning when visiting is as follows. Usually, you enter from the south and go north, that is, enter from the Meridian Gate of the Forbidden City and exit from the Shenwu Gate or Donghua Gate.
3. If you carry something with you that is not allowed to enter the scenic spot, you can store it at the Forbidden City Parcel Storage Office. This is usually the case. Personal travel experience:
I went to Beijing in August 2022. I stayed at a hotel in downtown Beijing that night and went to the Forbidden City the next day. The tickets were actually not expensive. , plus RMB 80 per ticket for both museums, free for minors, purchase tickets online ten days in advance, or directly on the Forbidden City applet.
Tickets are not difficult to buy now. As long as they are not for weekends and holidays, you can basically buy them three to five days in advance. First enter the Forbidden City from the South Gate, pass through Tiananmen and Duanmen, and come to the Meridian Gate. After checking in here, you will officially enter the Palace Museum. Although the Forbidden City is very large, the overall architectural layout is very clear. To the south are the first three palaces, and to the north are the living areas, which are the emperor's three palaces and six courtyards, hehe.
The most familiar ones are Chuxiu Palace and Yanxi Palace. They are introduced in many palace battle TV series. After walking through the Three Palaces and Six Courtyards, we arrived at the Imperial Garden, and then the Military Aircraft Department. I just watched them After finishing the West Sixth Palace, we next went to the East Sixth Palace to see the Treasure Hall, and finally left the Forbidden City through the north gate. Due to time constraints, we only visited 80% of the attractions in the Forbidden City.
Note: For friends who want to go there, you can choose to take a taxi or take the subway bus and get off at Tiananmen East Station or West Station. Because there is no parking lot in the Palace Museum, you can go there by yourself If you go by car, parking is a problem.
Forbidden City tour route: Meridian Gate is the only entrance for tourists, and Shenwu Gate is the only exit.
Opening hours: 830am-17:00pm. Closed all day every Monday.
So if it’s not a special national holiday, don’t go there on Monday.

They will depart from Beijing to the scenic spot at 8 a.m. and check the tickets. Entering the scenic area, the Great Wall scenic area is divided into the North City and the South City. Climb the city first, from the North Tower to the North Eight Towers. The specific decision depends on your physical strength. If you have visited the North City, you still have enough energy to go to the South City.
Personal experience:
Take a train from Beijing North Railway Station in the morning to the Great Wall, which takes about 30 minutes. After leaving the station, walk for three or four minutes to the cableway. The cableway goes to 140 and costs 100 one way. If you have to walk one kilometer to the entrance of the scenic spot, you can book tickets in advance or buy them on-site. The price is 40 yuan. There are not many people recently and I bought them on-site. However, if it is peak season, it is recommended that you book and buy online in advance. On the right side of the ticket gate is Beicheng, and on the left is Nancheng. Most people choose Beicheng. It was also my first time to the Great Wall. Many people said it was very physically demanding. The old people and girls who were traveling with me took the cableway up and waited for me on the seventh floor.
It should be noted here that the cableway can only go to the 7th floor. The highest point of the cableway is the 8th floor, and the 11th floor is the exit. It took me half an hour to climb from the north first floor to the 8th floor. If you want to visit Nancheng , don’t go out through the exit, you can go back to the first floor and go to Nancheng.
Remember to bring your ID card. You can’t get in without your ID card.
Travel Tips
For the five scenic spots I recommended above, I especially want to note that before setting off from home, make reservations for tickets to each scenic spot ten days in advance. Pay attention to doing nucleic acid tests during travel. When going to scenic spots such as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, do not bring packages, folding fruit knives, lighters and other items. Wear formal attire, not vests, and slippers are absolutely not allowed.
Old people can prepare a hiking stick, wear sports shoes, sports pants, and a sun hat when climbing the Great Wall.
Itinerary planning: The itinerary is expected to be about seven days. The first day will be departure from home to Beijing, the second day will be to the Palace Museum, then the third day will be Tiananmen Square, the fourth day is the Summer Palace, the fifth day is Beihai Park, and the third day is Six days at Badaling Great Wall, return on the seventh day, so the time arrangement is still a bit tight. If you don't have enough time, you can choose to go to a certain scenic spot alone.
Special delicacies:
1. Old Beijing hotpot mutton
2. Exploded tripe
3. Old Beijing mixed sauce noodles
Travel suggestions:
When going to the Great Wall, you should bring some mountaineering equipment and wear sportswear. In addition, there is the issue of accommodation. When going to the Great Wall, you can choose to stay near the Great Wall Scenic Area. When visiting the Forbidden City and scenic spots in Beijing, you can choose to stay in a hotel close to Tiananmen Square, so that you can easily watch the national flag raising. In addition, you should pay attention to taking nucleic acid tests and making reservations and purchasing tickets with scenic spots.
