The background story is: 200 1, Jin Ruchao, a native of Shijiazhuang, hacked his cohabiting girlfriend to death in a rage because of a marriage dispute. His hearing loss led to years of resentment against his neighbors, stepmother, ex-wife and relatives. Knowing that he could not escape the death penalty, he simply bought nearly 600 kilograms of explosives to retaliate, causing heavy casualties and causing the collapse of several dormitory buildings.

On the day of the incident, the Ministry of Public Security issued an A-level wanted order, which was wanted nationwide.
