The last time I went to Kubuqi Desert was seven years ago. At that time, there were no cars. I have an appointment with my friend to cross the Kubuqi desert. I miss it when I come back, and I always want to go again later. First, the bus I took for the first time didn't know Kubuqi's route. Secondly, the desert scenery is really spectacular. Last time I walked all the way, I didn't take many pictures. Just recently, I asked my friends to stay in Kubuqi go on road trip for three or four days when I was free.

From Beijing to Kubuqi Desert, you can take Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway or Beijing-Tibet Expressway to Xingba Expressway. This time, we left both expressways. Generally speaking, the Beijing-Xinjiang Expressway has better road conditions, higher speed limit and more traffic. There are several sections of cement pavement on Xingba Expressway, and the vehicles driving on it are bumpy, so it is difficult to see them all the way. The distance between the two lines is almost the same.

I brought a lot of luggage and snowboards this time. Fortunately, the Great Wall Gun Passenger Edition, a 1.5MX 1.5M container, has no pressure to pack three people's luggage, and does not occupy the second row space at all. After meeting our friends, we set off. The weather is fine, and the sun is shining all the way from Beijing. Because Kubuqi is more than 700 kilometers away from Beijing, I dare not delay all the way, hoping to arrive before dark.

Without the barrier of high-rise buildings and mountains in the city, our vision is extremely broad, but we have no time to stop and enjoy it, because we are located in a sunny plateau and we can see many solar power stations and wind power stations along the way.

Time always flies on the road. I changed cars with my friends, and before I knew it, the sun set, and I had already driven more than 600 kilometers. At about 5 pm, we finally came to the edge of Kubuqi Desert. There is a tourist attraction called Xiangshawan, which looks deserted, probably because of the epidemic. As the easternmost scenic spot of Kubuqi Desert, Xiangshawan is a must for many tourists to play sand in Kubuqi, but we want to play more wild! Pass by Xiangshawan and go straight through.

After crossing Xiangshawan, we continued to drive westward along the Xingba Expressway for an hour. We came to a place called Ngobeh Eco-tourism Zone. Seeing that the sun was about to set, we decided to find a desert in Ngobeh to watch the sunset.

However, we underestimated the significance of eco-tourism area and the determination of China people to control desertification. Both sides of the road from Ngobeh to the south across the desert have become oases. Although there are scattered sand dunes, the desert near expressway has been fragmented. We will never give up and continue to go deep into the desert with the Great Wall cannon. However, it is still difficult to find a deserted desert scenery. In the end, I can only use drones to have a bird's eye view of the miracle created by generations of sand control people in Kubuqi, a desert that has existed for thousands of years.

It is relatively safe to shoot the road in this desert. On the one hand, the road is straight and flat, and the field of vision is wide. On the other hand, there are few cars, and we haven't seen any other cars except us for dozens of minutes.

After filming my little sister, we left the asphalt road and officially entered the vast desert.

Driving in the desert, low-speed four-wheel drive is naturally difficult to beat the Great Wall cannon. But before entering the desert, it is necessary to deflate the tire to increase the contact area between the tire and the sand. If conditions permit, a small and high red flag should be installed to avoid collision accidents due to poor vision in the desert. Fortunately, we didn't come to Kubuqi to clear sand, so we should try to bypass the sand dunes that are too exciting. In addition, when riding a bicycle into the desert, we also need to bring some necessary tools, such as shovels and rescue boards. Of course, as a cautious person, I will use drones to explore the road first to ensure that there will be no unexpected episodes in our light desert cross-country.

When everything is ready, a plain but magnificent desert is waiting for you to explore. The desert carved by the wind of nature has charming lines. Just like an artist's painting, it is concise and abstract.

It shows a silky mechanism in light and shadow, which makes people sigh that nature is the greatest artist. Because of our inexperience in driving in the desert, we didn't go too far into the desert hinterland for the first time. After returning to expressway, we went to a sunset shooting place recommended by our friends, called National Geopark Scenic Area. Back to Tara Town, Dugui, there is a tourist line that can drive all the way to the entrance of the scenic spot.

The gate of the scenic spot is really bright, but the ticket is 80 yuan, a tourist. With the feeling of coming, we naturally bought tickets to enter. The result is naturally that the more spectacular the gate of the scenic spot is, the more mediocre the scenery is. The whole scenic spot is not so much a national geological park as a display area of sand control achievements. The whole geopark is basically an oasis after sand control, which is really good for the country and the people from the perspective of ecological protection, but as a 4A-level scenic spot, the scenery is really too dull. The scenery of several lakes in the scenic spot is also average, with no bright spots. On the contrary, restaurants in small and medium-sized villages in scenic spots taste good. Although the price is more expensive than Tara, it tastes better.

The scenery of the scenic spot is basically grassland and sand, but it is a bit like the African prairie when it is high. Only there are fewer wild animals. In addition to the common ground chickens, you can occasionally see sheep in captivity.

The sheep are also full of curiosity about me.

The big sand dunes in the distance remind me that it used to be an endless desert. What a great thing it is to be managed as an oasis where animals and people live.

After a short rest in the desert wetland, we decided to try to find a desert that we can drive into in the scenic spot. So it opens the door for us to explore sand. After asking the staff of the scenic spot, I learned that there seems to be only a small corner on the edge of such a large scenic spot where there is a path to drive into the desert, so let's try it.

Instead, we walked along the sand road for a while. Although it is really in the desert, it is too effective to see a continuous desert.

We had to come unexpectedly, only to be disappointed. Instead of wasting time looking for desert in scenic spots, it is better to go back to Dugui Tara and go directly to the desert. So we gave up the plan of going to the scenic spot to watch the sunset and returned to Dugui Tara. Yes, the ticket is to 80 yuan. If you're here to see the scenery, I tell you it's not worth it. But I am still very happy to think that I can do something for the desert control of the motherland.

Back in Dugui Tara, we can finally explore the desert with undivided attention.

When I entered the desert, I hung the Great Wall cannon on the manual M2 gear. Thanks to the good low torque performance of Haval 2.0T engine, I was able to get used to it in the desert. They all say "slow mud, fast sand", but low-speed four-wheel drive is not very useful in the desert. Occasionally you can get stuck in the car and use it to get out of trouble. After several attempts, I gradually got the idea of driving in the desert and began to play.

Great Wall Gun must be praised here. This car has given me too many surprises since I got it. First of all, its driving experience is very light. It doesn't drive like a big guy over 5 meters in length. Very easy to drive. And the passenger version of the interior is no different from the family car. Unlike most pickup trucks with cheap interiors, we were asked by local villagers all the way from Beijing, and even the traffic police uncle was full of interest in this car. Considering the price of hundreds of thousands of Great Wall guns, the 2.0T engine is matched with ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the interior is the best in its class.
