History

The idea of ??building a resort on the mountain came to the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong when he went to Cameron Highlands to discuss business in 1964. While enjoying the fresh and cool climate in Cameron Highlands, the late Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong thought that Malaysia is a tropical country, so if a resort is built on the mountain, it will definitely become a good place for everyone to escape the summer heat.

In order to realize this idea, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong immediately looked through the map hoping to find a suitable location near Kuala Lumpur where he could build a resort. Finally, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong saw the ideal spot at Mount Uluga, a 1,800-meter high mountain 58 kilometers away from Kuala Lumpur. Thus began the process of Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong transforming a remote mountainous area filled with virgin tropical rainforest into a resort.

On April 27, Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong established Genting Highlands Berhad, and with the assistance of Tan Sri Haji Mohammed Noah bin Omar, he successfully obtained the Pahang and Selangor have 12,000 acres and 2,800 acres respectively.

Construction started on August 18, 1965. The road from the foot of Genting Semba Mountain to the top of Mount Uluga took four years to complete.

On March 31, 1969, the journey to Genting World was finally completed. The late Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, attended to witness and built the first hotel in Genting Highlands. laid the cornerstone for its establishment.

In 1971, the first hotel in Genting Highlands was officially established. It was named Highland Hotel? and it has now been renamed Liyuan Hotel. Resorts World Genting has been developing vigorously since the establishment of its first hotel. In 1997, Genting World added facilities again. The 3.38-kilometer Genting Cable Car was officially launched, which can directly transport passengers to Genting World, allowing tourists to arrive at Genting World more conveniently and faster. Genting Cable Car is also "the world's fastest monorail cable car system" and "the longest cable car in Malaysia and Southeast Asia". Resorts World Genting currently has 5 hotels.
