Why is Shantou divided into three parts: Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang?

As we all know, Chaoshan generally refers to the three cities of Chaoshan, namely Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. Due to historical reasons, many people have been arguing about "who cares who?" Who is older than who? Who is better than who? "And the face of the debate is red.

In fact, the history of Chaoshan has always been "management" and "cutting and chaos". Until 199 1, Chaoshan was divided into three parts, ending the history of "managing to manage" for more than 2200 years.

199 1 years ago, who was in charge of Chaoshan?

"Jieyang tube" in Chaoshan

Jieyang is an ancient town in eastern Guangdong, a famous historical and cultural city in Guangdong Province, and one of the oldest county towns in Guangdong Province, with a history of more than 2,200 years. Jieyang has a long history, and Rongjiang River Basin is the birthplace of Chaoshan culture.

Chaoshan was the land of Fujian and Vietnam in ancient times. In order to weaken Fujian and Vietnam, the Qin and Han Dynasties split Fujian and Vietnam, and the Chaoshan area was assigned to South Vietnam.

In the thirty-third year of Qin Shihuang (2 14 BC), the Qin Dynasty sent Yao and Zhao Tuo to capture the land in Lvliang and set up Guilin, Xiang and Nanhai counties. Nanhai county governs six counties including Jieyang Garrison. Jieyang is named after Jieyang Mountain, one of the five mountains. It can be seen that the earliest name of Chaoshan is Jieyang.

In the sixth year of Emperor Gaozu's reign in Ding Yuan (11), Jieyang County was established, which governed Chaoshan, Xingmei, Longxi and Zhangpu in southern Fujian. It can be seen that the jurisdiction of Jieyang County at that time was quite large, much larger than the Chaoshan area now, even including the southern Fujian area.

Chaoshan "Chaozhou tube"

In the 10th year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty (590), the Sui Dynasty set up a county in Bazhou, and the following year (59 1), Yi 'an County was changed to Chaozhou, with the name of resurgence. At this time, Chaozhou governs six counties: Yi 'an (now Chaozhou), Chaoyang (now Haojiang District, Chaoyang District and Chaonan District of Shantou City, Puning City of Jieyang City), Haining (now Huilai County), Sui 'an (now Zhangzhou, Fujian Province), Zhao Yi (now dapu county) and Chengxiang (now Meixian County).

Since then, Chaoshan has been called "Chaozhou" for nearly 2000 years in history, such as "Chaozhou" (Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties), "Chaozhou Road" (Yuan Dynasty) and "Chaozhou House" (Ming and Qing Dynasties).

In the history of Chaozhou, the most widely known is "Chaozhou House". In the second year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1369), Chaozhou Road was changed to Chaozhou House in Yuan Dynasty.

The sixth year of Ming Dynasty (1633) was the year with the widest jurisdiction of Chaozhou Prefecture, covering Haiyang (now Chaoan), Chaoyang, Jieyang, Raoping, Huilai, Chenghai, Puning, Pingyuan, Chengxiang, Tai Po, Zhenping * * *1county.

In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China, the concept of Chaozhou was basically finalized. At this time, Chaozhou has jurisdiction over nine counties: Chao 'an (formerly known as Haiyang) County, Chaoyang County, Jieyang County, Huilai County, Puning County, Chenghai County, Raoping County, Fengshun County and dapu county (note: Nan 'ao County belongs to Raoping County, Jiexi County belongs to Jieyang County, and Shantou City belongs to Chengping County).

Today, Xiangqiao District is usually called "Fucheng" and "Chaozhou City".

Chaoshan "Chaoyang tube"

Chaoyang has a very long history. In the first year of Long 'an in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (397), Chaoyang county was established, which was named Chaoyang because it was close to the South China Sea, located in the south of Shan Zhi and the north of the sea. At that time, it belonged to Yi 'an County in Jin Dynasty. Since then, all generations have been subordinate to Chaozhou Prefecture.

In the first year of Tianbao in Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty (742), Bazhou was the county, and Chaozhou was changed to Chaoyang County, which governed Chaoyang, Haiyang (now Chaoan) and Chengxiang counties.

In the first year of Gan Yuan, Tang Suzong (758), the county name was restored, and Chaoyang County was renamed Chaozhou. Since then, Chaozhou, as a government city, has jurisdiction over all the counties in Chaoshan and some surrounding counties. Counties and States are relatively easy, and Chaoyang is its county.

Because Chaoyang County was established earlier and has not changed so far, and Chaoyang County once replaced Chaozhou in history, ancient poets often used "Chaoyang" instead of "Chaozhou".

Regarding the name of Chaoyang, Han Yu, an outstanding writer in the Tang Dynasty, has poems as evidence:

In the first month of the 14th year of Tang Yuanhe (8 19), the envoys of Xianzong went to Fengxiang to welcome Buddha's bones. Regardless of his personal safety, Han Yu resolutely went to the Buddha's bone table and tried to persuade him that it was absurd to worship Buddha's bone, and the whole world should not be misled by Buddha's bone. Xian Zonglan was very angry after playing, and he wanted to execute Han Yu by capital punishment. At that time, people were shocked and lamented. Even the royal family thought that Han Yu was too guilty. In order to intercede for him, Xianzong demoted him to Chaozhou secretariat.

After Han Yu was demoted, he wrote a poem, "A letter hits the sky, and 8,000 is in Chaoyang Road. He wants to eliminate disasters for saints, and is willing to decline and cherish the old, which expresses his feelings for the country and the people.

After Han Yu, the secretariat of Chaozhou, went to Chaozhou, he decided to move to Chaoyang County to take charge of Mianyang, Xinxiang (now Miancheng Town, Chaoyang City).

"Shantou tube" in Chaoshan

1949 10 After the founding of New China in June, the former Shantou City Hall was reorganized and Chaoshan District was established. This is the first time in the history of Chaoshan that "Chaoshan" has become the name of administrative division.

1956 February, Shantou Special Zone was established. After several changes, it was renamed Shantou City. Shantou is the seat of local or regional party and government organs.

Shantou used to have a very wide jurisdiction, including not only the current Chaoshan three cities, but also counties such as Fengshun, Meixian, Tai Po, Wuhua, Xingning, Pingyuan, Jiaoling, Haifeng and Lufeng. Later, as Meizhou and Shanwei separated from Shantou and became independent prefecture-level cities, the jurisdiction of Shantou gradually narrowed.

After the founding of New China, Shantou has become a pivotal port city, and because of its important geographical location, it has always been the central city of Chaoshan and the seat of the municipal government.

199 1 year 65438+February 7, the original Shantou city was divided into three prefecture-level cities: Shantou, Chaozhou and Jieyang. Since then, the "three-legged" pattern of Chaoshan three cities has been formally formed. Since then, Chaoshan has officially ended the history of "managing people", no matter who, but an equal Chaoshan three cities.

As the saying goes, "if you stay together for a long time, you will break up." In the history of more than two thousand years, Chaoshan has always been an inseparable whole, and we are all "bonding ourselves". If the three cities can merge again in the future, Chaoshan will be really blessed.
