Dodong Temple is located in the southwest of Bomi County. It is one of the three major temples in Bomi. It was founded by Daxiang Nudan Dorje during the period of the fifth Dalai Lama and the fourth Sangye Gyatso. .

Duodong means stone in Tibetan language, and dong means conch. Duodong means a conch-like stone near the temple.
