Can I stay in the hotel with my passport?

Passports cannot be checked into hotels.

Passport can not stay in the hotel, as follows:

1. You can't register with your passport when staying in a hotel in China, but you can register with your passport when staying in a hotel abroad. China people can only register with their ID cards in state-owned hotels, and can register with their passports in large foreign-related hotels.

2. Those who have lived abroad for a long time and have cancelled their household registration in China shall present valid foreign residence certificate and China passport at the same time when staying in the hotel. If you are registered in China and only live abroad temporarily, you only need to register at the hotel with a valid China citizen's ID card.

Can two people use one ID card to open a room?

No, two people must register their ID cards to stay in a hotel. If only one person has an ID card, the other person can check into the hotel with other valid documents stipulated by law. If you don't have any documents, you can also declare and verify your identity to the police station in the jurisdiction where you stay. The police station can print the information of the passenger in the national population information database, and affix the official seal to the passenger as the proof document for handling the flight formalities.

Legal basis: Article 4 of the Administrative Measures of the People's Republic of China on Issuing Ordinary Passports and Entry-Exit Passes.

A citizen applying for an ordinary passport shall submit it to the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ of the local people's government at or above the county level where his domicile is located, and submit the following authentic and valid materials:

(1) A recent bareheaded photo, and a complete Application Form for China Citizens to Go Abroad on Private Business (hereinafter referred to as the Application Form).

(two) the identity card and residence booklet and a copy; When collecting, redeeming or replacing resident identity cards, you can submit temporary resident identity cards, household registration books and their copies.

(3)/kloc-citizens under the age of 0/6, accompanied by their guardians, shall submit the opinions issued by their guardians on their consent to leave the country, resident identity cards or household registration books, passports and photocopies.

(4) State functionaries shall, in accordance with the relevant provisions, submit the certificate of consent to leave the country issued by their work units or higher-level competent units after examination and approval in accordance with the personnel management authority.

(5) Other materials required by the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ of the provincial local people's government after being approved by the exit-entry administration department of the Ministry of Public Security.

Servicemen applying for ordinary passports shall, after completing the examination and approval procedures in accordance with the administrative authority, submit them to the exit-entry administration department of the public security organ of the local people's government at or above the county level where the troops are located.
