Jigong Mountain is worth having to escape the summer heat.
In recent years, I go to Jigong Mountain to stay for a while every summer to escape the summer heat and enjoy the coolness.
As a native of Xinyang, I sincerely recommend visiting Jigong Mountain. You must stay at least one night on the mountain. The "four major summer resorts" are really not in vain.
The heat is unbearable, so I took advantage of the weekend to invite friends to Jigong Mountain. We set off in the afternoon, the city was like a steamer, and when we drove to the mountains in the evening, it was extremely cool. Go to South Street to settle down to a place to live and start going out for fun. The sun was setting in the west, and the sunlight passed through the dense woods, and the mottled tree shadows were reflected on the uneven marble pavement, like a print. The wind is cool and carries the fragrance of plants.
Because it is the summer season, there are many people on the mountain. Most of them speak with foreign accents, mostly from Hubei and Zhengzhou. The guesthouses, hotels and B&Bs on the mountain are very popular, with both short-term and long-term rentals available.
We met an old man with gray hair and elegant temperament sitting quietly under a big tree to enjoy the shade at the gate of Jigongshan Primary School. After chatting, I learned that he was from Hubei, and he and his sisters rented a suite upstairs for four months at a cost of 6,000 yuan. Enjoy the coolness of a summer, 6,000 is really not expensive. On South Street and North Street, the price of an ordinary room is only between one and two hundred yuan.
Turning from South Street to North Street, although there is a commercial atmosphere everywhere, the old post office and old trading houses appear from time to time, which vaguely shows the prosperity and excitement of Jigongshan in the past. I remember the time when foreigners flocked to build villas and churches. They spared no expense, competed for luxury, and raced against time to build paradise. More than 23 countries including Britain, the United States, France, Russia and Japan built more than 500 buildings of various types and housed more than 2,000 foreigners. It is incredible.
Crossing North Street to the edge of Xinghu Lake, a tall dam stretches between the two mountains. The lake is blue, sparkling, and unfathomable. The cool breeze blows by the lake, which doesn't feel like summer at all. On one side of the Xinghu Dam is the Baojian Pass, the ticket gate for entering the mountain. Legend has it that Zhang Xianzhong, the uprising general in the late Ming Dynasty, was defeated by Jigongshan and inserted his sword here, swearing not to take revenge or take the sword. A few years later, the sword Soaring into the sky, this place was named Baojian Mountain.
Go north along Xinghu Lake and cross the parking lot to see Yilu. There is a small and exquisite "Little Yilu" on the roadside. It is simple and compact. Legend has it that Jin Yun'e built it for a female actor he liked. The golden house hides the beauty, which has become a romantic story.
Yilu is also called "Zhiqi Tower". At that time, Jin Yun'e forcibly built a Chinese-owned building on Jigong Mountain. Moreover, a large sum of money was paid to hire an architect from the capital who had studied abroad to preside over the design. It is unique and overwhelms the architecture of other countries. At that time, the Chinese people's ambition was growing, so "Yilu" was also called "Zhiqi Tower".
In the evening, South Street is brightly lit, and the entrances of various restaurants are full of diners, enjoying the cool mountain breeze, ordering a piece of Nanwan fish, stir-fried potted meat, and two servings of wild vegetables. It's so pleasant to drink cold beer and chat about the ups and downs of life.
After dinner, we went out for a walk to eat.
Go up South Street and come to the Moon Lake. The moon is reflected in the Moon Lake, and opposite is the Chicken Head. Crossing Yuehu Lake, go to the Wanguo Performing Arts Center. Sometimes there will be performances, and the singing can be heard throughout the hills.
It’s also a good idea to take advantage of the darkness to climb the cock head. The moon in the mountains is exceptionally bright, and the stars are also dazzling. The Big Dipper is just above the rooster's head and is clearly visible. Nowadays, mobile phones are very advanced in taking pictures, and they perfectly captured the cock head under the Big Dipper.
In the past few years, the Chicken Head has been locked by a gate, and tourists can only go to the platform below the Chicken Head to have a distant view. This year, the rooster's head is open, and you can climb all the way to the rooster's head. There was a strong wind on the top of the mountain. We held on to the railing and climbed up carefully. The strong wind was blowing from all directions and whistled. It was actually a bit chilly and we didn't dare to sit for a long time. Looking far into the distance at Jigongtou, you can have a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. It is really like "being at the top of the mountain and seeing all the small mountains at a glance."
Get up at five o'clock in the morning and go to Jigongtou to watch the sunrise. It's another magnificent scene. If it happens to be clear after the rain, you can still see the undulating sea of ??clouds. Standing on Jigong's head, it looks like soaring clouds and mist. The name "Jigong Mountain in the Clouds" is well-deserved.
Go back to South Street and pass by Sisters Building, Matchmaker Village, etc. Behind every building on Jigong Mountain there is a moving historical story.
After breakfast, we went to the Chiang Kai-Shek Air Raid Shelter to see the villa where Chiang Kai-shek and Soong Meiling once lived, and sighed, "The Great Wall is still there today, but Qin Shihuang is nowhere to be seen."
"In the long river of history, we are all passers-by. How many heroes have been drowned in the long river.
There are many buildings on Jigong Mountain, and where we go is only a tenth of it. One, there are many stories, suitable for slow-paced travel. If you stay on Jigong Mountain for a week, you will definitely know Jigong Mountain better, and you will want to stay there for a few days again in the summer. It's cool and comfortable there.
Jigong Mountain, this new 5A scenic spot, is worth a visit.
