houjie town has a long history. During the Xuanhe period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1119-1125), Wang Tai, a native of Putian, Fujian, traveled to Houjie to settle down, and began to build a village and thrive.

from the first year of the Republic of China to the 28th year of the Republic of China (1912-1939), villages in houjie town were under the jurisdiction of the 8th District of Dongguan County.
