The History of Longxi Drum Tower

Weiyuan Building, formerly known as Xiongzhen Building, is also known as Bell and Drum Tower. Located in the center of Cross Street in Longxi County.

Weiyuan Building was built in the first year of Renzong Tiansheng in Northern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1023). It has a history of nearly a thousand years and is located in the center of the county seat. It is famous for its majestic momentum, long history and exquisite modeling.

In the first year of Yuan Shundi (A.D. 134 1), a copper pot was set up to drip and drum on it. In the first year of Hongwu (1368), Ming Taizu was rebuilt and named Xiongzhen Building.

In the 16th year of Qing Daoguang (1836), a bronze bell weighing 4,000 kilograms cast in the Northern Song Dynasty was moved upstairs. When there is nothing to tell the time, there is an alarm, which strikes for more than ten miles, so it is also called "Bell and Drum Tower".

Longxi history:

Longxi, located in the southeast of Gansu Province and the middle of Dingxi City, is the only place where the ancient Silk Road and the new Asia-Europe Bridge pass, with an area of 2,408 square kilometers and a population of 5 1.32 million. It has a long history and shines in the history of Chinese civilization. It has always been the seat of counties, prefectures and capitals, and once became the political, economic, cultural and military center of Longyou, and the earliest capital of Gansu Province.

In the 28th year of Zhao Xiang, King of Qin (279 years ago), Longxi County was built (now Lintao), hence the name. Named after its location in the west of Longshan, it is one of the 36 counties in the world. Wu Xiang County was established at the beginning of Han Dynasty, and Jincheng and Longxi counties were moved to govern Wu Xiang at the end of Han Dynasty. Since then, it has become the seat of counties, States, prefectures and prefectures in past dynasties. Wuyang County in the early Tang Dynasty was followed by Longxi County. The county name has been used to this day.

After Emperor Taizong acceded to the throne, he issued a letter to the world, and Li's county was located in Longxi, hence the saying that "Li in the world went out of Longxi". Now located in Renshou Mountain, a provincial forest park, there is a "Longxi Hall" called Li's ancestral hall, and then there is Li's cultural theory.

The most luxurious time in Longxi history was the Yuan Dynasty. In the second year of Yuan Shizu's reunification (126 1), the commander-in-chief of Shaanxi West Road was changed to the commander-in-chief of Changgong Road. At this point, Changgong became the military and political center of the vast area east of Lanzhou, Gansu, including 5 counties in Shaanxi and 4 counties in Sichuan.
