How to rate star hotels?

Star hotels have canceled the lifetime system and established "Platinum Five-Star" as the highest level

Yesterday, reporters learned from the Municipal Tourism Bureau that hotel star rating will be adopted from July 1 new standards and abolished the lifetime system for hotel star rating.

There are two versions of the new hotel star rating standards: one is the "Tourist Hotel Star Classification and Rating" jointly developed by the National Tourism Administration and the Ministry of Commerce; the other is the 2003 version formulated by the National Tourism Administration "Classification and Rating of Tourist Hotel Stars". If the two-in-one standard is not approved by the National Standardization Administration Committee on July 1, the 2003 version of the standard will apply. Both sets of standards have now been revised. Both the two-in-one standard and the 2003 version of the standard will implement a five-year evaluation system. Hotels rated after January 1, 1999 only need to replace new rating signs, and the issuing unit of the new signs is changed from the original National Tourism Administration to the National Star Rating Committee.

The biggest change in the new standards is that the evaluation criteria for catering in low-star hotels have been relaxed, but the evaluation criteria for comfort and other factors in hotels with four stars and above have been strengthened. In addition to the necessary conditions for hotels, the new standards also provide 73 optional standards for applying for three-, four- and five-star hotels. Among them, there are 21 comprehensive project standards, 20 characteristic standards in category I, 16 characteristic standards in category II, and 16 characteristic standards in category III. To apply for a three-star hotel, you only need to meet 10 of the 73 standards, to apply for a four-star hotel, you need to meet 26, and to apply for a five-star hotel, you need to meet 37 to enter the approval process.

It is understood that in the future, five-star hotels will no longer be the highest level for star hotels. The new version of the "Tourist Hotel Star Classification and Rating" standard will establish a new star hotel level - "Platinum Five Stars". "Platinum five-star" hotels are positioned at the top of the hotel industry pyramid, and the overall number is extremely strictly controlled.
