Do I have to pay taxes when I buy things in Thailand and bring them back?

You need to pay taxes.

1. Duty-free shops are only tax-free in Thailand, so they are cheap. However, if the customs returning to China exceeds 5,000 RMB, China Customs will levy tax on the excess!

2. Shopping in duty-free shops in Thailand. Those goods have been taxed according to domestic goods in Thailand. As a foreigner, you don't enjoy the tax-free treatment. You have returned to the customs, and the goods are the same as those in duty-free shops. The excess should also be taxed. If it doesn't exceed, there will be no tax!

3. Whether to enjoy overseas tax exemption for shopping has nothing to do with China, and China Customs will implement it according to the relevant regulations of China.

Commodity problem of 4.5000 yuan: the requirement is "reasonable quantity for personal use", which is for personal use or as a gift from relatives and friends, and may not be sold or rented. In other words, the goods you buy can clearly state the "reasonable quantity for your own use".

Extended data

According to Announcement No.54 of the General Administration of Customs of China (No.20 20 10/0), the duty-free provisions for luggage and articles of inbound passengers are clarified:

1. Entry resident passengers carry articles for their own use obtained abroad, with a total value of less than 5,000 yuan (including 5,000 yuan).

Non-resident passengers carrying articles intended to stay in China for their own use, with a total value of less than 2000 yuan (including 2000 yuan), shall be released by the customs duty-free, and a single variety is limited to their own use, and the quantity is reasonable.

However, tobacco products, alcoholic products and 20 kinds of commodities that should be taxed according to state regulations shall be handled in accordance with relevant regulations.

In other words, you can only carry articles worth 5,000 yuan in your luggage when you return to China, and you can buy articles worth 3,000 yuan at the duty-free shop at the port of entry. In other words, you can bring 8,000 RMB duty-free goods into China. No matter which country you come back from, the same policy applies.
