It's really a pity if you can't go to the biggest Miao village in the world.
I spent most of my time on winding mountain roads these days. The mountain outside the window is high and dense, and it is foggy all the year round.
But if we go back in time and go back to 10 years ago, the traffic here is blocked, poor and backward.
Even today, some Miao villages still have old houses, no cell phone signal and no Internet access. The last stop arrived in Kaili, Guizhou, and the destination was Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang. I got off the bus and breathed a sigh of relief.
Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang, Kaili is the largest Miao Village in the world. As soon as you enter the scenic spot, you can see the compact wooden houses on the hillside. At night, every family has lights, which makes the most beautiful night view of thousands of Miao villages.
After entering Miao village from the gate, almost every street is very lively. The shops on the street are almost all specialty stores, restaurants and bars, which are no different from most tourist attractions. But don't forget, this is the largest Miao village in the world. If you want to see the original Miao life, just go straight up and you will see the same scene as the undeveloped Miao village in the mountains.
Many residents of Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang live in the area halfway up the mountain, and many people work in the commercial street at the foot of the mountain during the day. At ten o'clock in the evening, many villagers can be seen coming home from work on the mountain, and the mountain is busy again.
Climbing the mountain is really tiring. I found a hotel with a balcony and a view. Lying in my room on rainy days, I can enjoy the mountain scenery in the clouds.
I learned intermittently from local friends along the way that the history of Miao nationality is a migration history that lasts for thousands of years. Friends suggest that you go to see Xijiang Festival, and you will have a different understanding of Miao nationality.
The ancestor of the Miao nationality is Chiyou, who originally lived in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. Later, due to the war and other reasons, they continued to migrate to the south and the west. Some settled in the southwest mountainous areas of China, some continued to migrate to Southeast Asia, and some migrated to the United States in modern times. Miao culture has also developed and formed in this long migration process.
Xijiang Festival is a large-scale outdoor live performance based on Xijiang Mountain and taking Miao Village in the mountains as the real scene. With the development of the plot, the mountain opposite the audience lit up with different shapes and creative lights, and each house was truly inhabited by a Miao family under the light. The effect of lighting and dancing is very exquisite, and it is immediately attracted by the plot. The performance is over, and the meaning is not over yet. If you don't come to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, it's hard to find such an experience elsewhere.
Miao people have lived in the mountains for generations, and every grass, tree, flower and bird in the mountains are poems in Miao life. The ingenious Miao women describe flowers, birds, plants and legendary beliefs with a needle and a thread in their hands.
Miao Xiu, a national intangible cultural heritage, has long been known for its name and has never had the opportunity to witness it. During this trip to Miao Village in Hunan and Guizhou, I met many people in the village. Many young people in the stockade have gone out to work, while the old people live alone in the old house. It is not easy to find a woman who can become Miao Xiu.
Walking among thousands of Miao villages in Xijiang River, I walked into a Gu Xiang. Compared with the commercial street outside, the alley is narrow and the house is old. There is such a shop in this alley, where many embroidered mothers quietly make Miao Xiu.
Although most of them are not young, their eyesight is definitely not lost to young people. Clever hands are a cinch. Miao Xiu's bold and bright color matching and meticulous and exquisite stitches have become the art of talking about capital in their hands.
On the pedestrian street, I saw a unique handmade shop. The shopkeeper is a Miao elder sister who silently does manual work with her head down. The things in her house are different from those in the same specialty store outside, and everything is unique. She said that the silverware was cut from her old clothes in Miao Xiu, so each one had a different pattern.
According to legend, Miao people regard "butterfly" as their mother, and think that with butterfly, Miao people can be born. Therefore, various images of butterflies can be found in many decorations of Miao nationality.
I bought two ornaments made by Sister Miao. I think I can bring my thoughts back to this Miao village no matter where I am in the future.
Speaking of Miao vegetables, sour soup fish must not be missed.
The soul of sour soup fish lies in "acid". When a pot of red soup pot is served on the table, the visual stimulation is already very strong, but when you take a sip of soup, it must be unforgettable. After eating fish in sour soup, I realized that the original acid-based food can be so delicious.
There is a famous saying in southeastern Guizhou: "If you don't eat sour for three days, start fishing (sound lào cuān, dialect, meaning unsteady walking and stagger)". In the past, it was very difficult and expensive for Miao people who lived in mountainous areas for a long time to eat salt. They found that fermented rice juice was used as the soup base, and litsea cubeba, pickled tomato sauce, bad pepper and other ingredients were used to make sour soup. After eating it, it is as full of strength as eating salt. So this "sour soup fish" full of hard work and wisdom of Miao people has been passed down to this day.
The three-day and two-night trip to Xijiang Miao Village in Kaili soon ended. If you ask me, will you come again next time? The answer is yes. Some people don't understand that Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village is not a commercial scenic spot. There is nothing to play. However, if there is no food and shelter supply brought by commercialization, would you really want to stay here?
