Is prostitution legal in Macao?

It is generally not illegal to go whoring in Macao, but it is illegal to go whoring in the Mainland. According to the law, prostitutes in the mainland will be detained 10 days or more 15 days or less, and may be fined 5,000 yuan. If the circumstances are minor, they shall be detained for not more than five days or fined not more than five hundred yuan.

It is not illegal to go whoring in Macau, because China implements the system of one country, two systems, and the laws of Macau do not stipulate that it is illegal to go whoring. (1) Prostitution and whoring, in any of the following circumstances, are in violation of the "minor circumstances" in the relevant provisions of the Law of People's Republic of China (PRC) on Public Security Administration Punishment, and they are detained for not more than five days or fined not more than 500 yuan: 1, and they have negotiated the price or paid money and other property without sexual relations; 2. Prostitution and whoring for the first time, good attitude towards admitting mistakes, repentance and other special reasons; 3. Other minor circumstances.

Article 66 of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Public Security Administration Punishment Law

Those who engage in prostitution and whoring shall be detained for more than 10 and less than 15, and may be fined less than 5,000 yuan;

If the circumstances are minor, they shall be detained for not more than five days or fined not more than five hundred yuan.

Whoever solicits prostitutes in public places shall be detained for not more than five days or fined not more than 500 yuan.

Article 360th of the Criminal Law of People's Republic of China (PRC)

Whoever knowingly engages in prostitution or whoring with serious sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis and gonorrhea shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than five years, criminal detention or control, and shall also be fined.
