Starting from Shanghai for our honeymoon, I would like to ask experts for advice on the places I want to go to: Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuxi, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Xitang!

Suggested itinerary:

Shanghai-Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Jiaxing (water towns such as Xitang, Wuzhen, Tongli)-Suzhou-Shanghai-Jilin.

Or go in the opposite direction: Shanghai-Suzhou-Jiaxing and other water towns-Hangzhou-Shaoxing-Shanghai-Jilin.

I have been to all of these places, and some of the content is from my answers to other people’s questions. I have copied it here for reference.

1. Hangzhou:

Guo Degang sang: The beauty of West Lake is unparalleled in the world. Not ridiculous.

The best way to enjoy the scenery along the West Lake is to rent a bicycle (it is said to be free) and then ride around the lake to see the fish at Huagang, the spring dawn at Su Causeway, etc. Taking a walk by the lake at night can help you understand what a gentle and wealthy town is.

Hangzhou is so famous that I won’t say more. One more reminder: There is a small art gallery near Baidi on the South Bank Walk that is free to visit. The works of Huang Binhong and the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou are on display in the first section. It is also an unexpected surprise that you can see Zheng Banqiao's original wind bamboos along the way.

When eating in Hangzhou, Louwailou on the south bank of West Lake is famous for: West Lake vinegar fish (grass carp is enough), beggar's chicken, Dongpo pork (one portion is enough), Song Sao fish soup, fried Stinky tofu, Shaoxing rice wine, Longjing tea... It's best not to go during meal time otherwise there will be too many people and you won't be able to get a seat (you can stay an hour or two late or make a reservation), then choose the terrace on the second floor and enjoy the view of the Qingshan Tower outside the mountains. With rice wine, this meal costs about three to five hundred yuan, but as a honeymoon meal, it should still be worth it. (The menu I went to eat at that time: West Lake Honey Lotus Root 20; Dongpo Braised Pork 16.8; West Lake Vinegar Fish (Grass Carp) 66; Song Sao Fish Soup 19.6; Beggar’s Chicken 158 (you can skip it if you are small); Dry Fried Ring Bell 28 Bean sprouts 23; Spring bamboo shoots 42; Shrimp and meat dumplings 19; West Lake Longjing tea 5/person; 5-year-old Huadiao wine 30/jin - as a honeymoon meal, it is recommended that the above dishes can omit the beggar's chicken and a green vegetable for more than 200 yuan. Dinner on the terrace outside the building, haha)

There are also many local home-cooked restaurants in Hangzhou, such as "Grandma's House", which are cheap and good. Not bad either.

There are many bars and cafes on the east bank of the lake. You can relax by walking around the lake in the evening when you are tired.

2. Shaoxing:

The characteristics of Shaoxing’s ancient towns are no longer obvious. Cangqiao Street is just similar to Nanluogu Lane in Beijing and the old lanes in Shanghai; it is different from the characteristics of Xitang and Wuzhen. Very far.

However, it is worth visiting Shaoxing to see the remains of famous people.

There are many trains from Hangzhou to Shaoxing, and the journey can be completed in one hour. If you start from Shanghai, you can go to Shaoxing first, and then return to Hangzhou from Shaoxing.

In Shaoxing, try to live near Lu Xun Road. Lu Xun's former residence, Sanwei Bookstore, Baicao Garden, etc. are all free. From Lu Xun's Former Residence 3., you can reach Shen Garden (where Lu You's Chai Toufeng came from) in 10 minutes on foot. Xianheng Hotel is also on the same street. Zhou Enlai's former residence is not far away either.

Outside the urban area of ??Shaoxing, places worth visiting: 1. Keyan, Jianhu, and Luzhen (three places belong to one scenic spot); 2. Orchid Pavilion (Wang Xizhi wrote the preface to the Lanting Collection, Qushui The birthplace of Liushang allusions). Both places can be reached by bus, which takes about an hour.

3. Jiaxing (visiting the ancient town)

There are many trains and buses from Hangzhou to Jiaxing. There are many ancient towns near Jiaxing. Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Wuzhen, Nanxun, Xitang, etc... Zhouzhuang is famous, but it was developed early and has a strong commercial atmosphere. The ancient town tastes bad. It is recommended to consider going to Xitang, Tongli or Wuzhen, they are not far away. You can also go to Tongli first. If you are not satisfied, then go to Wuzhen Xitang (Suzhou used to have direct long-distance tourist buses) and stay in Xitang Ancient Town at night. very good. Houses on the water, riverside houses, large carved beds, cost more than 100 yuan per room. The conditions are also good.

Jiaxing is not a big place and there is not much to do. The main ones are Nanhu and Yanyu Tower. Those who are obsessed with Jin Yong can go to Yanyu Tower to have a look. A large red boat is also there. You don’t have to live in Jiaxing. You can spend half a day exploring and stay in Xitang or Wuzhen.

4. Suzhou

You can get there by train or by bus from any nearby city.

Suzhou Railway Station is located in downtown Suzhou. It is also very close to Guanqian Street, the bustling area of ??the city center. You can live in Guanqian Street, which is the most prosperous city center in Suzhou. There are many businesses and snacks. Walk to Guanqian Street, where you can have dinner.

There are many chain hotels such as Hanting Hotel and 7 Days Inn.

Visit Suzhou.

The gardens in Suzhou are actually very similar. Local people say that if you go to the Humble Administrator’s Garden, you don’t need to go to anything else. Tiger Hill has some special features. I agree.

My suggestion (also my itinerary at the time): In the morning, eat wontons and noodles from a century-old store in Suzhou (there are many) on Guanqian Street or on the street, and then go to Hanshan Temple (that is, " Hanshan Temple outside Gusu City, the place where the bell rings at midnight) - can be done in one hour, and then go to Tiger Hill (climbing Tiger Hill and seeing the Sword Pond can also be done in one hour), if it's early, you can At the entrance of Huqiu, take the "Qili Shantang" cruise ship downstream into the city to the Shantang intersection. On the boat, you can enjoy the scenery of Suzhou's ancient city, small bridges, flowing water, and ancient restaurants. It should be noon by now. The gardens in Suzhou are all small and not very time-consuming.

After lunch (you can have snacks on Shantang Road), visit the Humble Administrator’s Garden and other gardens. It is recommended to visit Suzhou Museum-Prince Zhong's Mansion-Humble Administrator's Garden. Take a bus to the Suzhou Museum and get a free ticket to visit this modern garden designed by I.M. Pei. It is recommended to watch the film and television introduction, so that you can have an understanding of the past and present of Suzhou gardens and the value of gardens in the eyes of the master. The museum, Prince Zhong's Mansion, and Humble Administrator's Garden are all next to each other. Walking there, I saw all the gardens of the Qing Dynasty and the classic gardens of the Ming Dynasty.

I think Suzhou gardens are famous because they are folk garden classics. They are basically similar in style to the Summer Palace and Beihai in Beijing, except that the ones in Beijing are royal ones, while in Suzhou they are private residences built by local officials. The momentum and scale are certainly incomparable to the royal gardens. The Lion Forest is also nearby. If you are interested, you can also see it. I don't think it makes much sense. It's just a park.

That night, you can listen to Pingtan, or continue walking in the park.

Take the tourist bus from Pingsi Road in Suzhou, and there are direct buses to Tongli and Zhouzhuang. Very convenient. You can get on the bus before four o'clock in the afternoon, and you can usually reach those ancient towns within two hours.

From the center of Suzhou to Shanghai, you can take trains, and there are also buses that go directly to and from the airport. You can get to Hongqiao in two hours' drive.

Wuxi is recommended not to go, mainly because it is Taihu Lake.

Nanjing, you really don’t have enough time, right? Otherwise, you can drop by for 1-2 days.

In short, in terms of time arrangement, it is recommended to stay 1-2 nights in Hangzhou, 1 night in Shaoxing, 1-2 nights in the ancient town, and 1-2 nights in Suzhou. If you go to Nanjing or Shanghai, stay at least 1 night each. Night.

According to my experience, if you go to play in this season, you don’t need to book a hotel along the way. Just find a store and talk about the price at any time. You can find information about local business hotels such as Home Inns and Hanting Hotels, as well as chain youth hostels in advance as alternatives and key considerations.

On the road, trains are the first choice (with fewer trains), followed by regular long-distance buses.

Just take things as they come and have a safe journey.
