Chapter I General Provisions Article 1 These Measures are formulated in accordance with the Regulations of the State on the Administration of Geographical Names in order to beautify the city, facilitate the masses and standardize the house numbers and building signs of the capital. Article 2 The setting of house numbers and building signs must be based on the standard place names promulgated by the city, district and county place names authorities, reflecting the planning, rational layout, neatness, beauty and convenience for the masses. Article 3 These Measures shall be organized and implemented by the Municipal Public Security Bureau. Chapter II Specifications, Styles and Colors of Doors and Loupai Article 4 Doors and Loupai are written in imitation of the Song Dynasty.

(3) The doorplate of a large high-rise building can be a rectangular (35cm× 25cm) bronze plate with black lettering or other doorplate commensurate with the building. Chapter III Numbering of House Numbers and Building Signs Article 5 The house numbers and building signs of the main entrance shall be numbered uniformly in accordance with the streets and lanes, and the numbers shall not be repeated. There are houses and portals on both sides of the streets, with odd numbers on one side and even numbers on the other; Only one party has a room and a door, only a single number or only a double number. Article 6 Arrangement order: East-west streets, with odd numbers in the north and even numbers in the south; North-South Street, from north to south, with odd numbers on the west and even numbers on the east; Streets and lanes in northeast and southwest, northeast to southwest, northwest to southeast, northwest to southeast, with odd numbers in the north and even numbers in the south; The impassable hutong, no matter what direction, goes from the entrance, with odd numbers on the left and even numbers on the left.

The buildings in residential quarters are numbered in an S-shaped order from the northeast. If the terrain is complex, it can be numbered according to the principle of good contact and easy to find. Seventh new housing planning in the new district, with reference to the number in the planning scheme, in the open space or the old house lots to be demolished, the number is left blank, and it will be replenished after the new house is completed. Planning the streets and lanes outside the new area or planning the renovation, expansion and reconstruction of old houses in the new area shall use the original house number. Article 9 The principle of numbering house numbers

(4) A courtyard (house) is equipped with a front door number. If a courtyard (house) has multiple doors, one front door shall be determined according to its specific conditions, and the others shall be equipped with side or back door numbers. Street names and house numbers of side doors and back doors should be consistent with those of main doors.

(2) The doors of residential buildings are numbered sequentially from east to west or from north to south. House numbers should not be arranged continuously between buildings. The rooms in the door are numbered by floor. The account number uses three digits (10 1, 102...20 1, 202 ... and so on).

Signs of house number and household number shall be compiled by the construction, construction or use unit. Chapter IV Installation Location of House Numbers and Building Signs Article 11 Installation Location of House Numbers and Building Signs

(3) The building sign is installed between the window in the upper right corner of the building and the street corner. The height of the building sign depends on the height of the building. Chapter V Management of House Numbers and Building Signs Article 12 The Municipal Public Security Bureau is responsible for the numbering, production, installation, maintenance and management of house numbers and building signs in urban and suburban areas. Its funds are directly allocated by the municipal finance to the Municipal Public Security Bureau.

The doorplates and building signs of the suburban counties are divided according to the Measures of Beijing Municipality for the Administration of Geographical Names, and managed by the suburban county governments with reference to these Measures. Construction units that newly build or rebuild residential areas as streets should provide the general construction plan for compiling house numbers and building signs to the Municipal Public Security Bureau and the local public security bureau before the project starts. Fourteenth city, district and county administrative departments of geographical names shall notify the Municipal Public Security Bureau within fifteen days after the promulgation or approval of new geographical names and changes in geographical names.
